Sherman Cymru welcomes new Artistic Director Rachel O’Riordan |
The Board of Trustees of Sherman Cymru would like to formally extend a warm welcome to new Artistic Director Rachel O’Riordan. We are greatly looking forward to Rachel announcing her first season at the Sherman later on this year. These are uncertain times for the arts but we are working hard to ensure that Sherman Cymru remains a leading producing house within the cultural landscape of Wales and the UK, providing creative experiences and opportunities for audiences and practitioners alike. The Board of Trustees has had to make difficult decisions recently and review the structure of the company in response to the proposed 100% cut to arts funding from Cardiff Council and the impact of the Welsh Government funding cut to Arts Council of Wales, and this work is ongoing. We are, however, in no doubt that our new Artistic Director, Rachel O’Riordan, and Executive Director, Margaret Jones, supported by the Sherman Cymru team, will bring a new vision to the company with an energy and enthusiasm that will take us into the next exciting chapter of the Sherman’s life.
