To coincide with the worldwide release of 9Bach's second album Tincian on Peter Gabriel's Real World Records, the band will be performing at Sherman Theatre on Friday 23 May, 7.30pm as part of their tour.9Bach made their name by taking traditional Welsh Folk songs on a dark and twisted journey, creating a new stark sound. Led by Lisa Jên's exquisite vocals, Tincian sees 9Bach develop their distinctive sound with original material. Inspired by their lives, and the history and landscape of their home village of Bethesda, Tincian delivers an atmospheric, fresh, and beautiful dose of new Folk Roots for the future. Their new album Tincian is being released on Real World Records on the 12 May 2014. “Tincian can mean a lot of things, to move with a tinkling sound, to ring and make a clear sound. Depending on what area of Wales you are from, the meaning varies. It comes to life in dialogue when you use sentences like ‘I gave him such a talking to, he didn’t know what had hit him…he was ‘tincian’. It’s almost like a cartoon image of someone’s head being hit by a hammer,” says Lisa Jên who was last seen at Sherman Cymru in Christmas production of The Sleeping Beauties. “Last year I spent a lot of time at the Sherman performing in Rhwng Dau Fyd and Sleeping Beauties. I love that stage and I have very happy memories working on great shows with lovely people! Can't wait to bring my 9Bach Family with me this time." The gig on the main stage builds on the growing reputation for live music events at the Sherman following the sell-out OCTA mini festival in February and the ongoing foyer sessions which continue to grow in popularity. 9Bach will be at Sherman Theatre on Friday 23 May, 7.30pm.
