TARGET The activities of the project are targeted to: · artists with different experiences (singers, actors, itinerant artists); · school teachers, speakers, managers, people who use daily the instrument of the voice; · persons who study the voice from a medical point of view; · schools. OBJECTIVES 1. exchange of music and local culture. Search of mutual influences; 2. promotion of the oral culture for teaching purposes and to preserve the identity and the memory of the communities; 3. confrontation between the past and the present: the voice to-day. Present situation of the oral tradition. Similarities and differences between the countries; 4. teaching and education of the culture of the voice: search of a common training analysis with the aim of giving back a long lasting use of vocal organs to subjects who use their voice on a full time scale; prevention of troubles caused to the vocal organs. THE ACTIONS Phase 1 : April-October 2003. Each partner country will carry out a research to check his ways and expressions of the oral tradition in the course of time, the research will be preferably focused on the last century. The research will be made essentially in the musical field in order to check and report the affinities between the countries. It will include also all kind of oral expressions (stories, "storytellers"). The project will try to identify the main themes of each country together with the common ones in order to identify and possibly develop a "European Tradition". In the same time a research will be made on the use of the voice within these oral ways of expression; Phase 2: October 2002- March 2004 Confrontation between the past and the present. In this phase a double research will be carried out: On one side a confrontation will be made between the use of the voice to-day comparing it to the way it has been used in the past. On the other side, a research will be made on the oral present tradition. Are we conveying an oral tradition ? and which one? Is there a European tradition ? Possibilities to bring a common result. In this phase it is possible to involve schools in a series of meetings about the oral traditions in the different countries. The project intends to carry out three meetings between the partners: the first at the beginning to share the objectives and to present the local realities. The second in the middle of the project to check the results. The third will be at the end of the project and will coincide with public events that will last approximately one week in the leader country. The festival At the end of the project a one week festival will be organised. Each country will present at least one public performance about one of the following subjects: examples of oral tradition: songs, stories, stories and songs together (theatre). The voice to-day. The confrontation with modernity. The use of the voice in contemporary music. Examples of the use of the voice in specific contexts (seminars on the voice during the afternoon with specialists). EXPECTED RESULTS -Exchange of the different traditions and cultures, research of influences, of similarities and differences; -Regaining and spreading the culture of the voice in the European tradition; -Production of materials: cd, video, treatise, brochure. -Involvement of mass media to give wide visibility to results. -Creation of archives in order to safeguard the vocal culture and to gather material regarding local traditions; -Setting up of a web site to promote the culture of the voice and the European tradition. |
