Clwyd Theatr Cymru is the only company in Wales to receive sponsorship from Barclays Stage Partners - and has now received funding twice. Theatr director Terry Hands said, 'The Barclays Stage Partners sponsorship is enabling us to bring higher quality and better production values to audiences across Wales.' A production and tour of To Kill A Mockingbird this year has been made possible by Barclays Stage Partners in collaboration with The Arts Council Of Wales, who will provide more than £50,000 towards the cost of the production. The same award of £50,000 was made last year for the Clwyd Theatr Cymru touring triple bill of Hard Times, Damwain A Hap and Flora's War/Rhyfel Flora. Associate Director Tim Baker will open the company's season in the Anthony Hopkins Theatre with the stage adaptation of Harper Lee's multi-million-selling classic novel To Kill A Mockingbird from September 27 to October 20. This moving story of a white lawyer's fight for racial justice when a black man is accused of the rape of a white girl is a powerful portrait of a society governed by discrimination and prejudice. After Mold the cast of 11 will tour the production to the Sherman Theatre, Cardiff; Theatr Brycheiniog, Brecon; Torch Theatre, Milford Haven; Theatr Gwynedd, Bangor; Aberystwyth Arts Centre; Theatr Hafren, Newtown and Taliesin Arts Centre in Swansea. |
