Vamos Theatre, one of the UK’s major full mask theatre companies, is touring its acclaimed production Finding Joy throughout the UK this spring. This innovative show, a co-production with The Courtyard Theatre, Hereford, is coming to The Muni Arts Centre Pontypridd on Tuesday 8 April at 7.30pm. Finding Joy is a comic, anarchic, touching and heroic full mask adventure telling the story of Joy, who is creative, funny and loves to dance, but is losing her memory. Her grandson Danny is rebellious, fearless, bright, and always getting into trouble. When out of the blue Danny decides to become Joy’s carer, they discover a shared playfulness and a mutual affection. But is that enough to take on the challenges ahead? This witty performance is about memory, ageing, love, and - of course – it’s about Joy! You’re unlikely to have seen anything like a Vamos Theatre show: it is full mask theatre with no words, the story is told through visual physical performance and a vibrant original soundtrack; it brims with visual inventiveness, music, puppetry, dexterity and humour, it is wonderfully accessible, unashamedly nostalgic, and very playful. Finding Joy takes the audience back the 1930s, through the 1950s and into the present day, and is performed on an intricate set that’s full of surprises. It is suitable for audiences of 12 years and upwards. Tickets cost £8.50, concessions £5.00 and are available from the Box Office on 08000 147 111 or online @ www.rct-arts.co.uk |
