Encore Dance Company makes a welcome return to Theatr Mwldan on Friday 25 April at 7.30pm. This year they showcase a unique blend of spectacular dance and cutting edge choreography.

The performance premieres new works by international choreographers, Christopher Moore (Ballet Theatre UK), Jodie Blemmings (Matthew Bourne - New Adventures), David Wood (Kylie Minogue) and Drew McOnie. This stunning evening of dance celebrates the high energy and talents of young professional dancers graduating from the Tring Park School of Performing Arts.

This exciting opportunity has been developed to maximise performance opportunities and to build experience of the skills that the professional dance world demands. In ENCORE Dance the continuing rigorous day-to-day training in all of the core and supplementary subjects is expanded to give opportunities to work with a broad range of choreographers to develop work for the graduating dancers ENCORE Dance Tour.

Encore Dance Choreographers

Christopher Moore - Artistic Director of Encore Dance

Christopher Moore trained at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts and has toured all over the world perfoming in many productions and with his choreographic work including The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (New York USA), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (UK Tour), Annie (London Youth Theatre), Symphony (Palace Theatre, London) and various production pieces for the commercial industry and leading vocational dance colleges.

Christopher is also Artistic Director of Ballet Theatre UK and his works for the company include: La Classique, Les Papillion, Memento, The Nutcracker, Cinderella, The Snow Queen, The Sleeping Beauty, A Christmas Carol, Alice in Wonderland, French Can Can and The Nutcracker 2013.

Jodie Blemings

Jodie Blemings started his training with the Berkshire County Youth Dance Company before joining the Rambert School at the age of 16. He then went on to dance in Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake.

Jodie has choreographed for Tring Park School, Rambert School, Bodywork Company, BCYDC and So You Think You Can Dance, Australia collaborating with Sarah Boulter. He has worked on numerous productions at The Royal Opera House and with English National Opera including, Macbeth, Midsummer Marriage, Faust and Mark Morris’s Nixon In China.

Drew McOnie

Under the watchful eye of his mentor Matthew Bourne, Drew McOnie has just launched The McOnie Company of which he is Artistic Director. He is an alumni of Tring Park and fast becoming one of Britain’s most sought after emerging Choreographers. Known for his passionate and versatile dance vocabulary, McOnie is being hailed as ‘The next big thing in Musical Theatre Choreography and the name to look out for’ in the London and National Press.

His work as a freelance Choreographer and Dance Director spans across Film, TV and Theatre throughout the UK and Europe. Drew’s upcoming productions include a brand new production of Chicago at Leicester Curve Theatre, where he has also just been made an Associate Artist and Out of Step, an exciting new dance-based feature film.

David Wood

David Wood trained at Laine Theatre Arts. Upon leaving he went on to carve out a very successful career for himself as a dancer, teacher and choreographer working within the dance scene in London.

As a dancer David has toured the world and appeared in music videos with Kylie Minogue, Sophie Ellis Bexter, Gloria Estefan, Diana Ross, Vanessa Mae, Lionel Ritchie, Boyzone, Louise, All Saints, Atomic Kitten, Dina Carroll, Sheena Easton, Holly Valance, Billie Piper, Enya and many others. Performed in the Brit Awards, MTV Music Awards, Eurovision Song Contests and Royal Variety Performances as well as other TV shows such as Top of the Pops, CD UK, Stars in Their Eyes, Generation Game and GMTV.
