7.45pm, Thursday 28 – Saturday 30 August 2014Based on the works of Michael Green, Castaway’s summer show is a hilarious exploration of the art of coarse acting…that is performances which are deliberately designed to be prolifically bad on every level!! Michael Green spent years during the sixties with various Am Dram companies. He closely observed the calamitous situations which said companies could helplessly fall into. As a result he wrote the brilliant book – Coarse Acting. Castaway celebrate Green’s work with a revival of his own dedicated pieces, plus much more from really, really bad performances of Shakespeare to utterly awful Greek tragedies... And it is all very funny!! Expect collapsing sets, backstage rivalry, missed lines and total chaos as the well intentioned productions fall to pieces - pure awfulness is deliberately intentional!
