Torch Theatre Company announce cast for its production of Ayckbournís
How The Other Half Loves

The Torch Theatre Company has just announced the cast for its production of Alan Ayckbourn’s How The Other Half Loves, running at The Torch Theatre 8 - 25 October. A riotous romp through the love lives of three married couples, the production will star two actors who have worked with the Torch Theatre Company before – Joanna Simpkins (August 012’s Roberto Zucco, Torch Theatre Company’s Turn of the Screw, Waking Exploits’ Love and Money, Theatr Iolo’s The Magic Toyshop) and Simon Stanhope (Torch Theatre Company’s Intimate Exchanges and Aladdin, the UK national tour of Corrie!, BBC1’s Not Going Out) – along with four new company members - Liam Mansfield, Laura Penneycard, Francesca Goodridge and Rhys Warrington.

How The Other Half Loves follows the hilariously and hopelessly intertwined lives of three married couples; Frank and Fiona Foster, Bob and Teresa Phillips and William and Mary Featherstone. Adultery, suspicion, arguments and deception abound and ultimately, the play begs the question, do we all worry about how the other half loves?

The original production of the play enjoyed the second longest continuous run of any Ayckbourn play in London’s West End and was the first Ayckbourn play to transfer to Broadway. Alan Ayckbourn is reputed to be the most frequently performed writer after Shakespeare, and the Torch Theatre Company have performed more of his plays than any other playwright, including The Norman Conquests, Bedroom Farce and Relatively Speaking, The Torch’s opening and sell out production back in 1977.

The production will be directed by The Torch Theatre’s Artistic Director Peter Doran, who comments:

“Ayckbourn is the master craftsman when it comes to comedy and every theatre up and down the country turns to one of his productions every few years knowing that they’ll have a wonderful, creative and happy rehearsal period and a fantastic run where both actors and audience alike are rewarded with classic theatre comedy. It's great fun to perform and even greater fun to watch.”

How The Other Half Loves runs at The Torch Theatre 8 – 25 October at 7.30pm (with Matinees on 15 and 22 October at 2.30pm). Tickets are available on The Torch website www.torchtheatre.co.uk or from the Box Office on 01646 695267.
