Magical family fun for little ones this October half term with Hans Christian Andersen inspired story for ages 2-6



Bristol’s freshest Theatre Company, Dot and Ethel will brining their Hans Christian Andersen inspired story, Match to the Sherman Theatre from 27- 29 October.

Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s much loved classic, The Little Match Girl, Match is the enchanting story of a young child’s hopes and dreams; simple pleasures and losses. Match is a heart-warming, magical and life affirming tale made especially for children aged 2-6 .

Experience beautifully inventive storytelling, puppetry, song and live music in this spellbinding production. Incredibly uplifting and raw, playful and tender, it is pure delight for younger audiences.

Harriet de Winton, Co-Director of Dot and Ethel, said: “After the great success of Match’s original production at The Wardrobe Theatre in December 2013, we look forward to getting on the road with our first UK Tour. Match is inspired by one of the most famous tales from one of the greatest children’s writers of all time: Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Match Girl is a wonderfully adaptable piece with daring themes and beautiful imagery. We are delighted to be visiting each venue on our extensive tour and look forward to entertaining their local audiences.”

Match is Dot and Ethel’s first UK production. Founders Harriet De Winton and Heidi Vaughan met while working at the egg, Bath, one of the country’s only theatres entirely focused on making work with and for young people.

Match starts its tour at the Sherman Theatre on 27 October, before touring across all the UK until February 2015.

Sherman Theatre’s Artistic Director, Rachel O’Riordan said: “The Sherman Theatre has a strong reputation in Cardiff for programming high quality family shows, especially for the very young. Match has been inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Match Girl, a story that will capture the imagination of the very young. We are thrilled to be the opening date of this tour and to support this regional theatre company.”

Match will be at Sherman Theatre, Cardiff on 27, 28 (11am and 2pm) and 29 October (11am, 2pm, 4pm). Tickets are £8.
