NATIONAL DANCE COMPANY WALES’ DANCE HOUSE OFFERED AS TEST SPACE FOR NEW AND DEVELOPING CHOREOGRAPHY THROUGH ‘STAGE ONE’ INITIATIVE

3 CHOREOGRAPHERS OFFERED UNIQUE DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE THEIR WORK AT THE NATIONAL DANCE COMPANY HOME

4 November 2014 – CARDIFF: National Dance Company Wales is opening up the Dance House as a test space and platform for developing choreography this week, with its second Stage One event, following huge success with its pilot event held earlier this year.

Stage One, held at the Dance House on Friday 7 November (6.30pm) will introduce extracts of work by three choreographers Aleksandra Jones, Sarah Rogers & Michael Williams. Introduced by Catherine Bennett, who will chair discussion throughout, the event is a chance for each artist to share thoughts and ideas they are currently exploring through their current practice and engage in an open discussion with an audience in order to strengthen new concepts for future development.

As well as being open to members of the public interested in viewing dance in its most raw form; the audience will also made up of an invited group of dance industry peers and professionals who alongside the public audience perspective, are there to provide invaluable professional critique and feedback on the work.

The Stage One initiative is designed as part of National Dance Company Wales’ role as a leader for the development of the dance art form in Wales – born out of the recognition that there need to be many more opportunities available for dance artists to test their ideas out through performance, as well as in a supportive and productive environment. By offering the professional resource of the Dance House as place for use by the wider dance sector in Wales, National Dance Company Wales aims to strengthen Wales’ community of dance professionals committed to nurturing the art form in its development, with the national Company at its core.

This event is free but ticketed, with tickets available from Wales Millennium Centre’s Ticket Office online (https://www.wmc.org.uk/Productions/2014-2015/DanceHouse/239417/) or over the phone 0290 2063 6464
