MOUSETRAP INJECTS EXTRA HALF A MILLION £ís FOR ARTS IN WALES!

MOUSETRAP INJECTS EXTRA HALF A MILLION £ís FOR ARTS IN WALES! Up to a half a million pounds will be available to Welsh arts organisations to make a real uplift in the artistic life in Wales in the next two years, said Mathew Prichard, Chairman of the Colwinston Charitable Trust.

He was announcing a new scheme that will mark the 125th anniversary of Agatha Christie’s birth and which will use royalty income from the UK Tour of the world famous mystery thriller The Mousetrap.

He said: “Owing to the phenomenal growth in the Trust’s royalty income from the UK tour of The Mousetrap, and in celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the birth of Agatha Christie, the Trustees are to
introduce a new tier of Special Grants for arts activities taking place during the next two years.

The Special Grants will be aimed at supporting artistic performances and events of the very highest standard, and which would mark a real uplift in the artistic life in Wales during the period 2015
- 2017.

The total fund available for distribution is £500,000 and the minimum grant to be awarded under this scheme will be £125,000.

Exceptionally the Trustees might consider awarding the entire Fund to one applicant or group of applicants, if the overall effect of the proposed activity on the arts in Wales was found to be uniquely compelling.

Other annual grants will continue as before, dependent on the level of future royalty income.”
