Stories from a Crowded Room, site specific performance at Newport

Earthfall celebrate their 25th anniversary year in style, with a new production and a new style of performance in their latest production Stories from a Crowded Room, coming to The Riverfront on May 13th – 15th. Surrounded by broken dreams and bodies in flight; Earthfall physically embed you within the action, moving fast and close around you. This production is an all embracing experience for the audience. Earthfall return to south Wales with performances at The Riverfront after their previous shows, the Wales Theatre Critics Award winning piece Chelsea Hotel and critically acclaimed At Swim Two Boys.

The audience are invited to touch, smell, and breathe as you walk the room or hide amongst the crowd. Earthfall explore stories in motion, through highly physical dance with live music, text and encircling film.
With 8 incredibly talented dancers and 2 brilliant live musicians this is Earthfall’s largest scale production and the performance plays out in a self-contained digital box, which surrounds the audience and performers alike.

“We are celebrating our 25th year through the creation of a new style of performance for us, which takes the audience on stage and directly into the world of the dancers in a fresh Earthfall approach.”
Jim Ennis, Joint Artistic Director

Earthfall are a revenue funded client of the Arts Council of Wales and launch Stories from a Crowded Room as part of the BBC Arts Gets Creative campaign, a year long celebration of British arts, culture and creativity. Get Creative aims to boost creativity in the UK, as well as celebrating the millions of people already doing something artistic and creative every day. The campaign was launched 19 February 2015, by BBC Arts in partnership with cultural movement What Next? and leading arts and cultural organisations across the country.

“The intricacies of human nature are what Stories from a Crowded Room is all about. It’s about love and loss, rejection and companionship, anger and solitude. What Earthfall has accomplished in this magnificently immersive dance performance is highly effective, affecting and intensely personal to those gathered to observe.” Arts Scene in Wales, Steve Stratford.

This is a site specific performance with the Riverfront, Newport and buses will be provided to take the audience to and from the venue. Running May 13th to May 15th at 7:00pm, tickets are £8-£12.50 and are available from, or call 01633 656679.
