Award winning company, Ballet Cymru, are thrilled to announce a special performance of Roald Dahl’s Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs on the 4th December at the Wales Millennium Centre with live music from the BBC National Orchestra of Wales (BBC NOW).

This magical performance presents an extraordinary vision - two stories from the mind of the most popular storyteller in the world, Roald Dahl. A mischievous narrator delivers the sparkling text and leads the dancers through an enchanting world that never fails to take us by surprise.

This classical ballet was choreographed by Darius James and Amy Doughty, inspired by the outstanding scores by composer Paul Patterson. Conducted by John Quirk, BBC National Orchestra of Wales will perform in the Donald Gordon theatre with the dancers of Ballet Cymru.

Nothing is ever quite what it seems....

Roald Dahl was born and grew up in Cardiff, and to celebrate the centenary of the birth of this famous author, two of his hugely popular stories are coming home to Wales in ballet adaptations. Ballet Cymru has been granted permission from The Dahl Foundation to produce two works based on sections of the wonderful Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes, Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs.

With the support of the Dahl Foundation, in 2012 the production toured throughout the UK including Sadler’s Wells, where Roald Dahl’s wife Felicity and Donald Sturrock, Dahl’s biographer, were in attendance. Costumes and sets are by designer Steve Denton and a stunning lighting design by Chris Illingworth.

‘These young dancers created a taut, committed atmosphere on stage, and the audience, comprised of every age group from 5 to 95, were gripped from start to finish.
Ballet Cymru, I salute you!’
