Tickets for Theatr Cadair's Cardiff showing of Copenhagen are selling fast but a few are still available. The play -- which opened to acclaim at at the British Science Festival in Swansea last week -- has just one Cardiff performance, at the Royal Welsh college of Music and Drama's Richard Burton Theatre this Thursday, October 22, at 7.30pm.With superb performances from Keiron Self, Lynne Seymour and Rhodri Hugh Thomas, this production also features on-stage piano by Ian Rutt. Audience and critical response has been hugely enthusiastic, and the South Wales Post rightly points out the relevance of the subject matter (the development of nuclear weapons) to current global concerns. The play centres on the visit of the head of German atomic research -- Werner Heisenberg -- to his Danish mentor, Neils Bohr, in 1941. Michael Frayn's outstanding script, always powerful and often surprisingly funny, won him a New York Tony and the Evening Standard award in London. This production, which concentrates on the clarity and humanity of the piece, is directed by D.J.Britton. To book seats go to: http://www.rwcmd.ac.uk/whats_on/events/co |
