The Other Room continue Autumn / Winter season with neurotic story Blink |
Cardiff’s pub theatre The Other Room, located in Porter’s and winner of The Stage’s Fringe Theatre of the Year Award, continues its Autumn / Winter season with Blink by Phil Porter, an unconventional rom-com, that runs 7-19 November.Blink is a slightly neurotic, off kilter comedy about love - but not your love-hearts and red-roses variety; more your secret-stalker and awkward-erections kind of love story. Blink is co-produced by: Critical Ambition, a Swansea-based theatre company founded by Tom Myles and Dan Jones; Volcano Theatre Company; and The Other Room. The play received critical acclaim in London and New York and now Critical Ambition has been given permission to produce the first ever professional production of the play in Wales. Tom Myles will star in the play alongside Gwenllian Higginson, and Dan Jones will direct. Dan was one of The Other Room’s first Trainee Directors and is now an Associate Director there and comments: “There’s hate everywhere you look; in the news, on social media and on our streets. As pretentious as it sounds, I think we could all do with a little love. BLINK is first and foremost a love story. It is also a great modern play that has never been produced professionally in Wales and I can’t wait to bring it to Welsh audiences.” After playing in Cardiff, Blink will transfer to Volcano Theatre in Swansea where it will run for two further weeks.
