The Torch Theatre’s panto Sleeping Beauty promises a festive family treat |
The Torch Theatre Company whas recently started rehearsals for this year’s Christmas pantomime, Sleeping Beauty, which will run at The Torch Theatre 17 – 31 December. One of the best loved fairytales of all time, The Torch’s production promises a show bursting with magic, mayhem and music!In The Torch’s spellbinding production of the well-known tale, the evil witch Maleficent curses Princess Rose to die on her 16th birthday - but thanks to Rose’s Fairy Godmother she only falls into a deep sleep that can be ended with the kiss of a handsome prince. The Torch’s annual pantomime is a much loved festive treat for audiences in Pembrokeshire and beyond – previous pantos including Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk and Aladdin, have all been praised by audiences and critics alike for their charm, wit and warmth, and have broken Box Office records with nearly 20,000 people coming through the doors over each Christmas season. Artistic Director of The Torch and Director of Sleeping Beauty, Peter Doran, comments: “Sleeping Beauty is a brand new version for the Torch of this enchanting tale. A classic good triumphing over evil story but with lots of laughs along the way, together with some spectacular original songs. Sleeping Beauty has something for everybody whether you’re three or eighty three – it’s the perfect Christmas Pantomime!” Sleeping Beauty will star: Torch Theatre Company favourite Dion Davies as Nanny; Miriam O’Brien as Princess Rose; Francesca Goodridge as Maleficent; Cler Stevens as the Fairy Godmother; Gareth Wyn Griffiths as the King, Sion Ifans as Fester and Joseph Robinson as Roberto.
