A magical adventure flies in and all around Wales

A magical adventure flies in and all around Wales A North Wales based dance theatre company will be premiering their latest piece at Venue Cymru this February, before touring Wales. Little Light have joined forces with award-winning author Heather Dyer to bring her classic adventure tale ‘The Flying Bedroom’ to life on stage through dance with innovative digital projection.

The story takes the audience on an adventure with Elinor and her magical flying bedroom as they discover new friends, battle pirates and meet a hapless astronaut during their adventures in far off lands, under the sea and into outer space. This creative and inspiring journey, where Elinor discovers her own self-confidence and creativity, will be displayed through dance, acting in English and Welsh, stunning costumes and projections, providing an immersive sensory experience for the whole family.

In this wonderful fantasy world Elinor finds ways to overcome her worries which she experiences before she fell to sleep, and she discovers her own self confidence and creativity so that when she awakes she is ready to face her day.

Heather Dyer, author of ‘The Flying Bedroom’ said: "Seeing Elinor and her bedroom come to life on stage has been magical. Little Light has taken Elinor's bedroom to new places, too. There's now an underwater adventure - and even an explosion! And the costumes are fantastic."

Lisa Spaull, from Little Light said: "We've been wanting to create a longer dance and digital show for families for indoor theatres for a while. Thanks to Arts Council of Wales funding and our partners Venue Cymru and Creu Cymru, we have been able to create The Flying Bedroom. The show is based on the book by Heather Dyer and it lends itself perfectly to a magical adventure tale for children and their families. Our company Little Light is based in North Wales and we are really happy to be creating this show at Venue Cymru and collaborating with fantastic artists across the region."

Little Light have had a long standing relationship with Venue Cymru and are currently Dance Associates at the Llandudno venue.

“We also run the Family Dance Project – a participatory dance project where families come together to dance and create performance work to a high standard, supported by Venue Cymru as part of their Young Creatives Programme.”

This bilingual show is ideal for childrenof 4+ and the running time is approximately 45 minutes. Optional workshops will be taking place after each performance, but numbers will be limited
