Flamenco Legends Perform in Wales in a One-of-a-Kind Tour This Spring |
Two of the world’s greatest flamenco artists are uniting for a one-of-a-kind tour of Wales this Spring. From Monday 20 – Saturday 25 March, Carmen Cortés and the Gerardo Núñez Quartet will embark on a five-date tour or venues across Wales, performing their internationally acclaimed brand of Spain’s most iconic art form.Famed guitar master, Gerardo Núñez, celebrated for his amazing speed and cross-cultural collaborations, is regarded as one of the finest guitar players on earth. His soulful performances display a brilliancy of means and beguiling charm, and his recordings encompass traditional flamenco with innovative jazz and Latin inspired rhythms.   Núñez will be joined on stage by the electrifying gypsy dancer, Carmen Cortés, one of the most revered performers of her generation. Renowned for her performances of flamenco puro – the style of flamenco most in touch with its roots and traditions – Cortés is one of very few performers capable of summoning the mythical duende. Evoking the sensual intensity of a night in the barrios of Andalucía, flamenco’s explosive mix of song, music and dance make it one of Europe’s most iconic art forms. Bursting with savage rhythm, fluid beauty and heart-rending drama, the performances will be an intensely powerful showcase of raw flamenco, offering British audiences an extremely rare chance to experience the form in its purest incarnation.
