Cardiff’s pub theatre The Other Room ends Outliers season with Escape the Scaffold |
Cardiff’s pub theatre The Other Room, located in Porter’s and winner of The Stage’s Fringe Theatre of the Year Award 2016, rounds off its Spring ‘Outliers’ season with a new play from writer Titas Halder called Escape the Scaffold, running Wed 19 April – Sat 6 May.The Other Room has joined forces with London pub theatre Theatre503 and London-based company Mongrel Thumb to premiere Titas Halder’s Escape the Scaffold, which is a dark psychological thriller full of pitch black humour, and will be directed by award-winning director Hannah Price. Three best friends hunker down in their student house, forced to make decisions that will mark them for the rest of their lives. But love triangle turns to betrayal as their youthful idealism is tested, paranoia takes hold, and real life melts into a nightmare world. The basement is filling with water and there is a monster in the house. Escape The Scaffold runs at The Other Room following an initial run at Theatre503. Lisa Spirling, Artistic Director of Theatre503 comments: “I am delighted to forge a relationship between Theatre503 and The Other Room as we share much in common, small venues with big ambitions. From our above-pub venues, we are proud to stage and support the best and most exciting new artists such as Titas and Mongrel Thumb. Theatre503 has a tradition of responding to the state of the world and – with Escape the Scaffold - we welcome the chance to do this with like-minded people from other parts of the UK and reach audiences beyond London.” Writer of Escape The Scaffold, Titas Halder, directed Sinners Club, the first show in The Other Room’s current season, and the piece follows the premiere of Run The Beast Down, a hybrid piece of theatre and music, at the Finborough Theatre (31 January – 25 February).
