Brecon Jazz Futures Planning update

Brecon Jazz Futures
Planning update
Following the pilot project of Brecon Jazz Futures in 2016 and in consultation with Arts Council of Wales, Theatr Brycheiniog has made the decision to focus on a period of research and development for the project in order to create an effective business model for future years. Brecon Jazz Futures will therefore not be providing a performance programme throughout the Brecon Jazz weekend.

Brecon Jazz Futures was developed in 2016 in partnership with The Friends of Brecon Jazz, and was supported by Jazz 4 Jed with a focus on new and emerging artists. Following Brecon Town Council's scoping report in October 2016 of the Brecon Jazz Weekend 2016 (undertaken by Nod Knowles Productions) one of the key development options identified was around the work that Brecon Jazz Futures achieved. The report identified the need to create more opportunities for emerging jazz musicians and a need to develop new jazz audiences.

Therefore over 2017, Brecon Jazz Futures will not be running a performance programme as they did alongside the Brecon Jazz Weekend 2016, but will be undergoing extensive research and development across the industry over the next 9 months in order to create an effective business model that will provide the highest impact for developing and nurturing new and emerging Jazz talent.

Brecon Jazz Futures is currently seeking funding in order to achieve this period of consultation and will be looking to develop the project further on successful receipt of funding.
