THE SIMON AND GARFUNKEL STORY50th ANNIVERSARY TOURSwansea Grand TheatreMonday 26th June 7.30pm Direct from its success in London’s West End, a sold out UK tour and standing ovations at every performance, The Simon & Garfunkel Story is back at Swansea Grand Theatre on Monday 26th June at 7.30pm with its 50th Anniversary Tour.

The Simon and Garfunkel Story takes you back through the 'Groovy' times of the 1960s telling the story of both Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel from their humble beginnings as rock ‘n’ roll duo, Tom and Jerry, right through their massive success and dramatic break-up and culminating in a stunning recreation of the 1981 Central Park reformation concert.

Using a huge projection screen, the show features 1960s photos and film footage whilst a full live band perform all their hits, including Mrs Robinson, Cecilia, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Homeward Bound, Sound of Silence and many more.

RHYTHM OF THE DANCE

The craic comes to Swansea Grand Theatre. The National Dance Company of Ireland, featuring The Young Irish Tenors, is at the theatre on Wednesday 28th June at 7.30pm in the resplendent and rousing stage production, Rhythm of the Dance.

Rhythm of the Dance heralds a new era in Irish entertainment, featuring thirty dancers, a traditional live Irish band and the dashing and handsome Young Irish Tenors. Internationally rated as one of the most popular and successful Irish Step Dance shows on tour, critics, audiences, and millions of fans around the world, have hailed the live stage show as a must see!

The National Dance Company of Ireland’s performers are not only an assemblage of beautiful Irish lassies and handsome Irish lads, sporting colourful Celtic-themed costumes, tapping and stomping out century-old beats; they are also a special collection of incredible young Irish dancers, singers and musicians. A crowd favourite, one of the company dancers, a star in her own right, specialises in the ancient Sean Nos dance style.

All the music is performed live on stage by musicians who play rare and haunting musical instruments throughout the show, like the Celtic Bouzouki, the Cittern, the Octave mandolin, the melodeon (Irish accordion), Tea Whistle and Pennywhistle flutes, century-old harps, banjos, fiddles, guitars and various hand drums.

THE FIRST HIPPO ON THE MOON

From Number One bestselling children’s author David Walliams comes an explosively funny space adventure for children of 3 and up. The First Hippo on the Moon is at Swansea Grand Theatre on Friday 30 June at 1.30pm and 4.00pm Saturday 1 July at 10.30am and 1.00pm.
Adapted for the stage by acclaimed award winning theatre company Les Petits and hot off the heels of its hugely successful Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs tour and immersive hit Adventures in Wonderland, comes a fantastical adventure featuring puppetry, music, mayhem and a giant space race to the moon!

Shelia is the protagonist of The First Hippo on the Moon. Her dream is to the first hippo in space and she is helped to achieve her wish by her group of animal friends Tina the Elephant, Joyce the Gorilla and Derek the Ostrich. When she gets to the moon she discovers that her enemy Hercules has already got there before her, but she returns to Earth proclaiming to be the first hippo on the moon.

Hercules Waldorf-Franklin III is the antagonist of The First Hippo on the Moon. He is enormously rich hippo who paid for a gigantic Hippo Space Centre to be built to send him into space. He arrives on the moon at the same time as Shelia, but she returns to Earth in his rocket.

David Walliams has taken the literary world by storm and his brilliantly funny stories are adored by children the world over! He has achieved unprecedented critical acclaim and quickly developed a reputation as a natural successor to Roald Dahl.
