Mercury Theatre Wales present a new piece of immersive theatre
Mercury Theatre Wales are pleased to announce details of their forthcoming production, 35 TIMES which will be touring Wales during June and July 2017.
After an intense period of research and development where she met and interviewed survivors of domestic abuse in the South Wales valleys Bethan Morgan and her team presented their work at the National Assembly of Wales in May 2016. Following this sharing of work Bethan has written her debut play 35 TIMES.
35 TIMES will open at The Park & Dare Theatre in Treorchy on the 29th of June 2017 before touring to Penarth Pier Pavilion, St Dogmaels Memorial Hall in Pembrokeshire, Volcano Theatre Swansea and finishing at Chapter Arts Centre Cardiff from the 11th - 15th of July.
Mercury Theatre Wales have assembled an all female cast to present these stories and raise awareness of the issue of domestic abuse that pervades our society and affects every race, social and economic group.

Author Bethan Morgan said:
‘Statistically, a woman will experience domestic abuse on average 35 times before reporting it. In my quest to bring this subject to the fore, I feel extremely honoured to have met so many brave survivors, to whom I am incredibly grateful for sharing their experiences with me. My hope is that 35 TIMES will highlight the support available and empower women to speak out.’

At Chapter Arts Centre on July 14th the cast will be joined by members of Welsh Women’s Aid survivors’ group SEEDS for a post-show discussion where the audience will have the chance to ask questions and discuss the subjects raised during the show.

Mercury Theatre Wales is a Cardiff-based theatre company that aims to produce high quality, innovative and thought-provoking work. They are committed to developing Welsh talent and bringing to the Welsh stage new pieces of theatre, created to be relevant to contemporary audiences and the specific communities with whom they engage.
