Acclaimed author Catrin Dafydd’s ‘revolutionary’ book will be launched in Cardiff this weekend.

Newly published novel Gwales is set in Wales in the near future where a major social revolution is about to begin. Some of the novel’s events take place in Whitchurch, Cardiff.

The novel will be launched in the capital this weekend at two consecutive events.

In the novel, Brynach Yang wants to finish everything. And he’s going to do it. Tonight. But what will happen to Wales then? The Gwales campaign is about to begin its troubled journey ... and Brynach will lead the revolution.

In a period of political uncertainty, we meet several families who are trying to survive the huge challenges ahead of them.

Catrin Dafydd is an author, poet and political activist from Gwaelod y Garth in Cardiff. An experienced author, her first novel for adults, Pili Pala, reached the Book of the Year long list in 2006. She has published two English novels to date - her first, Random Deaths and Custard, reached the Spread the Word: Books to Talk About shortlist. Her other books include Y Tiwniwr Piano and Random Births and Love Hearts.

Gwales will be launched at The Old Church Rooms in Radyr on Friday 15th September at 7.30pm in the company of Catrin Dafydd and Catrin Beard with entertainment by legendary singer Heather Jones. The event is organised alongside the Radyr and Garth Appeal for the 2018 National Eisteddfod in Cardiff.

The second launch will take place on Saturday 16th September in Indyfest in Cardiff which is organised by Yes Cymru Cardiff. This will include a Q&A session at 1.45pm in the Moon, Womanby Street with Catrin Dafydd and Fflur Arwel.

Gwales by Catrin Dafydd (£9.99, Y Lolfa) is available now.
