TV’s Terri Dwyer and Mark Homer star in stage version of Wilkie Collins’ chilling story The Ghost’s Touch!. |
Rumpus Theatre Company have developed a reputation for creating eerie, atmospheric tales of ghosts and strange happenings which thrill audiences. Cardiff’s New Theatre is delighted to present the company for the first time with a haunting play based on the chilling tale by the author of The Woman In White, Wilkie Collins’ The Ghost’s Touch! In the play widower Stephen Rayburn’s young daughter Lucy runs back to him from the woods in Kensington Gardens. He can see that she’s frightened. “Is it the dog?” he asks. “It’s not the dog,” she answers. “It’s the lady ... I think she might be mad!” The ghostly woman Stephen meets leads him into a web of lust and revenge that reaches out from beyond the grave. Wilkie Collins’ The Ghost’s Touch! stars Mark Homer as Stephen Rayburn and Terri Dwyer as the mysterious Mrs Zant. Terri Dwyer is a firm favourite with TV audiences from her appearances on Loose Women, 60 Minute Makeover and This Morning but she is no stranger to strong dramatic roles with credits including Law and Order, Holby City and Hollyoaks on television and Dial M For Murder on stage. Mark Homer is best known for his role as Tony Hills in EastEnders, while his other television appearances include Casualty and Silent Witness and most recently The Dumping Ground. For Rumpus he has attracted excellent reviews in other Rumpus productions including The Signalman, The Pit and the Pendulum and Neville's Island. WhatsOnStage said “Mark Homer displays an acting talent which far exceeds his EastEnders credentials”. With the nights drawing in, fans of a good ghost story are in for a treat with a difference. The Derbyshire Times said that Rumpus’ production of Wilkie Collins’ The Dead Hand “set the edge-of-the-seat mood of this haunting piece to perfection” while The Public Reviews said that The Haunted Bride “fantastic... the audience jumped out of their skin”. Wilkie Collins’ The Ghost’s Touch! plays at Cardiff’s New Theatre for a very limited run of just four performances from Tuesday 3 – Thursday 5 October. Tickets are available from newtheatrecardiff.co.uk or by calling 029 2087 8889. Will you feel the ghost’s touch? |
