Gŵyl Ddawns Caerdydd yn cyhoeddi manylion cywaith India Cymru – Interruption |
Mae Gŵyl Ddawns Caerdydd 2017 yn falch o gyhoeddi manylion Interruption - prosiect cyffrous sy’n cynnwys artistiaid o India a Chymru - a fydd yn arwain at ddiwrnod o berfformio di-dâl yng nghanol dinas Caerdydd ar ddydd Gwener 17 Tachwedd.Mae Interruption yn rhan o India Cymru, sef tymor pwysig o gydweithio artistig rhwng y ddwy wlad i nodi achlysur Blwyddyn Diwylliant y DU - India, a lle bydd artistiaid o Basement 21 yn Chennai yn gweithio law yn llaw ag artistiaid o Gymru, diolch i gymorth gan Gelfyddydau Rhyngwladol Cymru a'r Cyngor Prydeinig. Yr ymarferwyr blaenllaw o Basement 21 sy’n cydweithio â Gŵyl Ddawns Caerdydd yw Preethi Athreya (dawns), Padmini Chettur (dawns), Pravin Kannanur (theatr/celfyddyd weledol) a Maarten Visser (cerddoriaeth). Y prif ymarferwyr o Gymru fydd yn cymryd rhan yn Interruption yw Joanna Young (coreograffydd), Siriol Joyner (coreograffydd) a Lauren Heckler (artist gweledol). Hefyd, bydd Robbert van Hulzen, yr offerynnwr taro o’r Iseldiroedd sy’n cydweithio’n aml â Basement 21 yn dod draw i Gaerdydd i weithio ar y prosiect. Bydd deg o ymarferwyr eraill yn ymuno â’r prosiect ar gyfer ei berfformiadau terfynol a bydd myfyrwyr dawns sy’n dilyn Cwrs Anrhydedd BA mewn Dawns ym Mhrifysgol De Cymru hefyd yn gwneud cyfraniad pwysig i’r prosiect. Mae Interruption yn brosiect o archwilio a chydweithio a fydd yn ymateb i’r synnwyr o le yn ogystal ag i fannau penodol. Bydd yn defnyddio disgyblaethau cymysg y prif ymarferwyr ac yn gatalydd ar gyfer rhannu ymarfer gyfoes ryngwladol, er y bydd yn cael ei gynnal yn ninas Caerdydd sy’n gofalu am y prosiect. Mae Interruption yn cynnwys cwrs preswyl 3 wythnos ar gyfer yr ymarferwyr a fydd yn cael ei gynnal yng nghanolfan Chapter. Bydd cyfleoedd stiwdios agored a gweithdai ar gael i nifer ehangach o ymarferwyr a chynulleidfaoedd. Bydd y gwaith ymchwil a datblygu a fydd yn digwydd dros y tair wythnos yn arwain at ddiwrnod perfformio cyhoeddus terfynol yng nghanol y ddinas. Bydd tair canolfan, yn benodol, yn cynnal elfennau o berfformio, sef Marchnad Caerdydd, Y Llyfrgell Ganolog ac adeilad ATRiuM Prifysgol De Cymru. Mae Interruption yn annog ymyriadau artistig sy’n tarfu ar fywyd gwaith bob dydd sefydliadau cyhoeddus. Efallai bydd yr ymyriadau a’r perfformiadau yn y canolfannau yng nghanol y ddinas a gynhelir ar ddydd Gwener, 17 Tachwedd, yn tynnu sylw, yn cythruddo, yn difyrru ac yn holi pobl sy’n mynd heibio a’r rhai sy’n defnyddio’r adeiladau cyhoeddus. Bwriad Interruption yw datblygu’r ymyriadau a’r perfformiadau hyn drwy ddefnyddio ymchwil safle benodol a gwybodaeth fewnol o’r ddinas ac o’r bobl sy’n byw ac yn gweithio yma. Mae’r ymarferwyr sy’n gweithio ar Interruption yn ystyried y prosiect fel ffordd o fyfyrio ar gyd-destun a diwylliant, gwahaniaeth a gwleidyddiaeth. Mae Gŵyl Ddawns Caerdydd yn ddigwyddiad a gynhelir bob dwy flynedd, a chafodd ei lansio yn 2015, ac eleni mae’n cael ei chynnal rhwng 8 a 19 Tachwedd. Dros y deuddeg diwrnod bydd amrywiaeth o weithiau’n cael eu perfformio gan artistiaid a chwmnïau o bob rhan o Gymru, y DU a thu draw. Bydd perfformiadau yn cael eu cynnal yn Chapter, y Tŷ Dawns a Chanolfan Mileniwm Cymru. Cefnogir GDdC17 gan Gyngor Celfyddydau Cymru. Prif bartneriaid yr ŵyl yw Chapter, Cwmni Dawns Cenedlaethol Cymru a Chanolfan Mileniwm Cymru. Eleni bydd yr ŵyl yn gweithio hefyd â Chyngor Dinas Caerdydd, Groundwork Pro, Migrations a Phrifysgol De Cymru ar wahanol agweddau ar y rhaglen. Trefnwyd rhaglen Gŵyl Ddawns Caerdydd gan Chris Ricketts a rheolwyd y prosiect gan Fieldwork. Meddai Chris Ricketts: “Rydym yn edrych ymlaen yn fawr iawn at weld beth sy’n dod i’r golwg drwy Interruption. Mae dod ag artistiaid rhagorol at ei gilydd o leoedd cwbl wahanol yn brosiect anhygoel i ni. Ac rydym yn hynod o falch o fod yn rhan o dymor Blwyddyn Diwylliant y DU – India, sy’n gyfrifol am y cyfnewid mor gyfoethog hwn o syniadau.” Meddai’r artist Lauren Heckler: 'Rwy’n temlo’n gyffrous iawn o fod yn gweithio ochr yn ochr ag artistiaid o Gymru ac artistiaid rhyngwladol wrth ‘ymyrryd’ yn greadigol â’r gofodau cyhoeddus yr ydym yn mynd iddynt o ddydd i ddydd, er enghraifft y farchnad dan do. Cardiff Dance Festival announces details of India Wales collaboration - Interruption Cardiff Dance Festival 2017 is proud to announce details of Interruption - an exciting project involving Indian and Welsh artists – which will culminate in a free performance day in Cardiff city centre on Friday 17th of November. Part of India Wales, a major season of artistic collaboration between the two countries to mark the UK India Year of Culture, Interruption will see artists from Basement 21 in Chennai working hand in hand with artists from Wales, thanks to support from Wales Arts International and the British Council. The lead practitioners from Basement 21 who are collaborating with Cardiff Dance Festival are Preethi Athreya (dance), Padmini Chettur (dance), Pravin Kannanur (theatre/visual art) and Maarten Visser (music). Lead Wales based practitioners for Interruption are Joanna Young (choreographer), Siriol Joyner (choreographer) and Lauren Heckler (visual artist). Dutch percussionist and frequent Basement 21 collaborator Robbert van Hulzen will also be coming to Cardiff to work on the project. A further ten practitioners will join the project for its performative conclusion and dance students from the University of South Wales BA Hons Dance Degree course will also be making a major contribution to the project. Interruption is an exploratory and collaborative project that will respond to a sense of place as well as to specific spaces. It will draw on the mixed disciplines of the lead practitioners and be a catalyst for sharing international contemporary practice, albeit grounded by Cardiff as host city for the project. Interruption comprises a three-week residency for the practitioners, based at Chapter. There will be open studios and workshop opportunities for a wider number of participants and audience. Research and development over the three weeks will culminate in a public performance day in the city centre. Three venues in particular will host elements of performance, these are Cardiff Market, Central Library and South Wales University’s ATRiuM building. Interruption encourages artistic interventions to interrupt the daily workings of public institutions. The interventions and performances at the city centre venues on Friday 17th November may distract, annoy, uplift, entertain, question passers by and users of the public buildings. Interruption aims to develop these interventions and performances through site specific research and inside knowledge of the city and of the people that live and work here. The practitioners working on Interruption are considering the project as a means for reflecting on context and culture, difference and politics.. The biennial Cardiff Dance Festival, which was launched in 2015, takes place this year between 8 and 19 November. Over the twelve days there will be a variety of works being performed by artists and companies from across Wales, the UK and further afield. Performances will take place at Chapter, the Dance House and Wales Millennium Centre. CDF17 is supported by the Arts Council of Wales. Lead festival partners are Chapter, National Dance Company Wales and Wales Millennium Centre. This year the festival is also working with the City of Cardiff Council, Groundwork Pro, Migrations and South Wales University on different aspects of the programme. Cardiff Dance Festival is programmed by Chris Ricketts and project managed by Fieldwork. Chris Ricketts said: “We’re really looking forward to seeing what unfurls through Interruption. Bringing together some fantastic artists from very different places it’s a great project for us. And we are really pleased to be part of the UK India Year of Culture season through which such a rich exchange of ideas is taking place.” Artist Lauren Heckler said: 'I'm excited to be working alongside Wales based and international artists to creatively 'interrupt' the day-to-day of public spaces that I frequent, such as the indoor market. It's great to be involved in Cardiff Dance Festival and to have the opportunity to make performative work for the public realm.” Rebecca Gould, Head of Arts, British Council Wales said: “It’s exciting that through India Wales and the UK India year of Culture, Chennai’s Basement21 are able to come to Wales to collaborate with CDF on this production.
