VIVALDI BY CANDLELIGHT
Swansea Grand Theatre
Tuesday 23rd January, 7.30pm
Join us for a special performance of Vivaldi by Candlelight performed by one Britain’s best-loved classical touring ensembles, the Locrian Ensemble, at Swansea Grand Theatre on Tuesday 23rd January at 7.30pm.

Step back for a while from the hectic pace of our anxious times, into the elegance and grace of the Baroque, whilst listening to harmonies of this great melodic genius weaving his magical spell.

Presenting a musical tribute to the great Venetian composer, Antonio Vivaldi, the Locrian Ensemble performs in front of a stunning classical set, attired in lavish period costume. These charismatic musicians perform Vivaldi's Four Seasons, a composition which depicts 17th century Italian rural life in a wonderfully inventive manner. Other works include the virtuoso Concerto for Two Violins, the Rustic Symphony, and classics such as Pachelbel's Canon and Handel's Arrival of the Queen of Sheba.

Bringing together some of the most prominent string soloists in London, The Locrian Ensemble was formed in 1995 and immediately established an enviable reputation for its recordings, broadcasts and live performances. In 2016, they topped the British Classical Music Chart with their recording of Debbie Wiseman’s score to BBC TV’s Wolf Hall. The Locrian have recorded works for BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM and released the complete chamber works of the great Swiss composer, Volmar Andreae.

THE BEST OF QUEEN
Swansea Grand Theatre
Wed 24 Jan, 7.30pm

The Best of Queen, performed by Flash, pays homage to one of the most theatrical and dramatic rock bands of all time at Swansea Grand Theatre on Wed 24 Jan, 7.30pm.

The Best of Queen show features a selection of the most loved and iconic classics from across Queen’s entire back catalogue creating a live stage show which really catches the essence of this most incredible British band.

Claudio Desideri, lead vocalist for The Best of Queen, said,

“The show is a hit after hit, anthem after anthem, jukebox of Queen’s Greatest Hits, all performed live with identical instruments and in authentic costumes.”

Flash have been performing across the world since 2002. Italian born front man, Claudio Desideri plays an uncannily realistic ‘Freddie’ with just the right look and stage persona. From an early age Claudio has trained and developed a vocal range capable of performing these iconic songs, recreating the magic that made Queen’s live shows so very special.

Claudio is joined on stage by an enormously talented band, including Nathan Mathers who brings all the electric guitar virtuosity required to play a very convincing Brian May. The attention to detail is truly impressive and extends to the use of the same equipment used by Queen on stage in their heyday.
