Are You Being Served? Aberystwyth Arts Centre: 26 - 27 January

Are You Being Served?
Aberystwyth Arts Centre: 26 - 27 January Returning after their summer success with Alan Bennett’s People, Castway Community Theatre will be presenting Lloyd and Croft’s stage version of Are You Being Served? on January 26th and 27th.

Anyone with a television during the 70s or 80s will not need reminding of the characters that staff Grace Brothers’ department store, and those who are as yet unaware cannot help but be swept along with Messrs Rumbold, Grainger et al. as they try to keep the men’s and ladies’ outfitters under control. Captain Peacock and Mrs Slocombe will be eyeing each other up, while Miss Brahms and Messrs Lucas and Humphries are forever free.

In this play, the staff are preparing, ironically, for the UK’s entry into the Common Market, and are treated to a holiday in Spain where the hotel turns out to be not quite as advertised. What’s worse, the forces of revolution are in evidence, but are overcome in several ways by the gallant Grace Brothers staff, with a bit of help from the local Air Force.

Castaway Community Theatre is the Arts Centre's well established community theatre group. New members and complete beginners are welcome to join the group - no theatrical experience necessary!

Tickets for Are You Being Served are available from the Arts Centre Box Office on 01970 62 32 32 or online at www.aberystwythartscentre.co.uk
