Cardiff’s pub theatre The Other Room
announces Spring 2018 season
Cardiff’s pub theatre The Other Room, located in Porter’s and winner of The Stage’s Fringe Theatre of the Year Award, will open its Spring 2018 season LOVESICK with a production of Caryl Churchill’s A Number.

A Number, (running 13 February – 3 March) is visionary playwright Caryl Churchill’s modern classic of science, family and loss. A fearless and affecting dissection of the relationship between father and son, A Number strikes at the heart of what it is to love unconditionally – and the tragic failure to connect. A Number will be directed by Ed Madden (Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons) and star Stevie Raine and Brendan Charleson.

Director Ed Madden comments:

“No writer in the contemporary British theatre has innovated so regularly or rigorously as Caryl Churchill. Her work inspires me to be a smarter, braver, truer artist, and so it is a challenge and a thrill to be bringing her extraordinary play A Number to Welsh audiences for the first time. It is a play as intellectually provocative as it is deeply felt, and I am itching to start work on it with this remarkable pair of actors. In fewer than four years, The Other Room has become a vital feature of the Cardiff theatre ecology. As the building begins a new chapter under the artistic direction of Dan Jones, I am chuffed and humbled to be a part of its unfolding story.”

The LOVESICK season continues 27 March – 14 April with Dan Jones directing his first play as Artistic Director of The Other Room – the brand new All But Gone, written by Matthew Trevannion (Bruised, Leviathan). Jones will also direct the final play of the season - The Effect by Lucy Prebble, running 24 April – 12 May.
