Dramatic Combat - Stage Combat Course Classification - Training The British Academy of Dramatic Combat is holding its inaugural UK residential Stage Combat course. The course is open to anyone who has an interest in combat for cinema and stage or people who already have a stage combat certificate and would like to further their training and ability. The course will be held at Atlantic College, St Donats, Llantwit Major from 20/07/03 to 26/07/03. The course is 370 and includes training, accommodation, 3 meals a day and the exam fee. This course is designed for novices as well as those with advanced standard abilities. The exams will be held at the end of the weeks course. Additional to the weeks training there will be classes that include weapon work, mass attacks, martial arts and seminars. The conference will celebrate the contribution of the arts to Wales and discuss some of the major issues facing the arts in Wales. Including well respected speakers, the conference will centre upon issues including cultural perspectives, the state of drama in Wales, the visual arts and craft sector, and the involvement of local authorities with the arts in Wales. The main points for discussion will include the plans outlined in the recently published document, Supporting Creativity, The Five Year Arts Development Strategy 2002-07. Delegates will have the opportunity to influence the development of the arts in Wales over the next 5 years. The conference is open to individual artists or representative of an arts organisation, members of the public, or member of a local authority or private organisation. The conference will be held on the 12/05/03 and 13/05/03 at the Phoenix centre in Swansea. Speakers will include Kathryn Dean from Sound Sense, the UK national community music development organisation and Hamish Fyfe, the newly appointed Chair in Community Arts at Glamorgan University. The conference will give those attending the chance to discuss and listen to others ideas regarding Arts in Wales and a chance to assess current progress and potential developments.
