The Torch Theatre hosts radio recording of new plays

BBC Radio Wales has commissioned Haverfordwest-based playwright Dan Anthony to write a series of plays for radio, all connected to the County of Pembrokeshire. These will be performed and recorded in the auditorium of the Torch Theatre on a series of Saturdays in July, to be broadcast on BBC Radio Wales during the Summer.

"Radio is an extraordinary medium in which the writer can work on the principle that anything which can be described can be imagined. A radio play can travel to and fro between centuries and continents, it can also take place in aeroplanes, on board ships or in exotic locations. It can also take place within the confines of a single mind. Many actors will tell you that it is their favourite medium and some of the biggest stars return time and again to the radio studio. To witness the recording of a radio play is a rare treat and one that I recommend – come and share the magic that the performers experience!"

[Peter Doran – Artistic Director, Torch Theatre]

Anyone interested in observing the fascinating recording process - including the use of sound effects - and getting a sneak preview of the plays should contact the Torch Theatre Box Office on 01646 695267.

The plays will be performed on Saturday 12, Saturday 19 and Saturday 26 July.
