Aberystwyth Arts Centre: Words & Innovative Poetry and Spoken Word Evening - 7:45pm, Wednesday 25 April

Aberystwyth Arts Centre: Words & Innovative Poetry and Spoken Word Evening - 7:45pm, Wednesday 25 April Organised by Mary Jacob in association with Aberystwyth Arts Centre, 'Words&' is back with an event in the Arts Centre's Round Studio on Wednesday 25 April. These evenings built up a poetry buzz last year and feature invited guest poets in conjunction with literary journals such as Poetry Wales, New Welsh Review, Planet: the Welsh Internationalist, and more.

On the 25 April, the Aberystwyth English and Creative Writing Department MA programme will present a sneak preview of this year’s MA Anthology, showcasing Aberystwyth’s best short fiction, prose and artwork on the theme of ‘Journeys’. The Anthology will be released in May 2018, with all profits going to Mind Aberystwyth.

New Welsh Review will be showing two videos produced by Aberystwyth University students and recent graduates on either the GO Wales or the Aber Forward schemes. One is an animation of a comic story, ‘The Pavement Poet’, set in Cardiff and written by Joao Morais. The other is an illustrated audio story by Mihangel Morgan, ‘Hen Bethau Anghofiedig’ (Old Forgotten Things), in Welsh with English subtitles by Gwen Davies.

To perform at the open mic, please sign up in the Round Studio at 6:30pm. All types of poetry are welcome, including Welsh, English and other languages.

Tickets are available from the Arts Centre Box Office on 01970 62 32 32 and online at www.aberystwythartscentre.co.uk
