This year Aberystwyth Arts Centre’s Community Theatre is bringing an original twist to George Bernard Shaw’s timeless classic tale of rags-to-riches. The story of Eliza Doolittle has lent itself to many different interpretations over the last century, but the words stay relevant in almost any era. In this production, we see it set in a small welsh town in the 1960s, taking the rising sound of dialects on the radio for inspiration. With a live band playing toe-tapping songs of the decade and a vibrant cast of community actors, this piece promises to be a celebration of voices, following the tongue-in-cheek humour of Shaw’s original work.

The Arts Centre is working in association with Awaken Productions to produce a playful interpretation of this traditional favorite, and are delighted to be able to work with a range of voices and ages from the community. The performances are suitable for age 12 and upwards, and take place on the 4th and 5th of May, during the bank holiday weekend.
