Is This Planet Earth? features wild creatures, exotic plant-life and remote landscapes created by nine artists. Every colour and sensation is heightened and their sculptures, paintings, sound-art, performance art and videos are all a bit sci-fi.

What if life on earth has become just a memory? What if these artists' re-creations of nature are now the only way of experiencing it? This exhibition is presented as an offering to aliens who visit us in the future. Instead of seeing nature in reality, this is what they encounter.

In oil paintings by Katherine Reekie, we see the most curious creatures, many combining TV character-toys and animal and vegetable DNA. Halina Dominska has sculpted large-scale plant-life that responds to visitors by ‘breathing’. Salvatore Arancio presents lushly coloured ceramic sculptures of mossy growth and fungal flesh. Dazzling and intricate landscape paintings by Dan Hays are based on webcam footage he found on the internet. There are the sounds of hedgerow birds, croaking frogs and an owl's cries, created using the artist Jason Singh’s own voice, beatbox-style.

A digitally modified video by Helen Sear was shot in a Welsh wood and is projected down onto the floor: it's a teeming pool of luminous life that visitors can bathe themselves in. Seán Vicary animates footage he shot on the West Wales coastline: a space-ship-like seashell hovers over the cliffs and a limpet shell seems to be signalling to us. Sculptor Alfie Strong provides a pile of tapestry-covered cushions for us to sit on, with images of rockpools with blood-red shadows and water that is darkest navy.

Performance artist Patrick Coyle suggests that, at some time in the future in Aberystwyth, “radio sewage active tailings” have been detected in the river Ystwyth and water has become a luxury item. During his tour of ‘Abbaystwyth Flottleswyth Statiom’, a revered water-bottling site, he gives an upbeat account – using a strange language of the future – of how people have adapted.

Is This Planet Earth? is a Tŷ Pawb touring exhibition curated by Angela Kingston.

Patrick Coyle will be performing his guided tour of a fictional water bottling plant on the 16th of August around sunset, 8:30. It will last 50 minutes and is based in and out of the gallery.

Come and join us for some creative family workshops in gallery 1 with artist Anna Evans. 13th-16th of August, 10am-12pm.

Oriel 1, 14 Gorffennaf – 14 Medi

Mae Is This Planet Earth? yn nodweddu creaduriaid gwyllt, planhigion ecsotig a thirweddau anghysbell a grewyd gan naw artist. Pwysleisir pob lliw a theimlad ac mae eu holl gerfluniau, paentiadau, celf-sain, celfyddydau perfformio a fideos â thuedd tuag at y byd ffuglen wyddonol.

Beth os yw bywyd ar y ddaear ond yn atgof bellach? Beth os mai ail-greadigaethau'r artistiaid hyn o fyd natur yw'r unig ffordd o'i brofi erbyn hyn? Cyflwynir yr arddangosfa hon fel offrwm i estroniaid sy'n ymweld â ni yn y dyfodol. Yn lle gweld natur mewn gwirionedd, dyma'r hyn sy'n eu hwynebu.

Mae paentiadau olew Katherine Reekie yn dangos i ni'r creaduriaid rhyfeddaf, llawer ohonynt yn cyfuno cymeriadau tegan y teledu gyda DNA anifeiliaid a llysiau.

Mae Halina Dominska wedi cerflunio planhigion ar raddfa fawr sy'n ymateb i ymwelwyr trwy ‘anadlu’. Mae Salvatore Arancio yn cyflwyno cerfluniau serameg lliwgar o dyfiant mwsoglyd a chnawd ffyngaidd. Mae tirluniau disglair a chymhleth Dan Hays yn seiliedig ar hen ffilm webcam y daeth o hyd iddi ar y rhyngrwyd. Ceir yma synau adar y coedwrych, llyffantod yn crawcian a chri'r dylluan, wedi eu creu trwy ddefnyddio llais yr artist Jason Singh, ar ddull blwch-curo.

Ffilmwyd fideo gan Helen Sear, a addaswyd yn ddigidol, mewn coedwig yng Nghymru gyda'r llun yn cael ei daflu ar y llawr: mae'n bwll heigiog o fywyd disglair lle mae ymwelwyr yn gallu ymdrochi.

Mae Seán Vicary yn animeiddio ffilm a wnaethpwyd ar arfordir Gorllewin Cymru: mae cragen y môr yn debyg i siâp llong ofod yn hofran dros y clogwyni ac mae cragen maharen fel pe bai'n anfon neges i ni. Mae'r cerflunydd Alfie Strong yn cynnig pentwr o glustogau tapestri i ni eistedd arnynt, gyda delweddau o byllau glan môr gyda chysgodion coch fel gwaed a dŵr o'r glas tywyllaf.

Mae'r artist perfformio Patrick Coyle yn awgrymu bod "gweddillion ymbelydrol", rhywbryd yn y dyfodol yn Aberystwyth, wedi eu canfod yn yr afon Ystwyth a bod dŵr bellach yn eitem foethusrwydd. Yn ystod ei daith o gwmpas ‘Abbaystwyth Flottleswyth Statiom’, safle potelu dŵr pwysig, mae'n rhoi cyfrif calonnog - yn defnyddio iaith ryfedd y dyfodol - o sut mae pobl wedi addasu.

Mae Is This Planet Earth? yn arddangosfa dwrio Tŷ Pawb a guradir gan Angela Kingston.

Dewch i ymuno gyda ni yn Oriel 1 am berfformiad gan artist Patrick Coyle sydd yn cynnwys taith tywys am ddim o weithfeydd potelu dŵr ffuglennol ar 16eg o Awst , machlud- 8.30yh.

Dewch i ymuno gyda ni am weithdai teulu galw heibio creadigol yn Oriel 1 gyda artist Anna Evans ar 13eg-16eg o Awst, 10yb-12yp.
