he Music Club returns to Aberystwyth for the Autumn season with a new series of Chamber Music concerts. All concerts take place in the Great Hall, Aberystwyth Arts Centre.Kokoshka Trio 8pm, Thursday 4 October The Kokoshka Trio is made up of Jamie Campbell (violin), Nathaniel Boyd (cello) and Simon Lane (piano). All three members of the Kokoshka Trio are well known to Aberystwyth audiences both from Music Club concerts and from their participation in Musicfest. In particular, Simon Lane has been a regular performer at Musicfest for over 20 years. The trio will be playing the Brahms B minor Trio, a work that he wrote initially as a 20-year old and revised extensively over 30 years later, and Shostakovich’s Second Piano Trio, written in the depths www.aberystwythartscentre.co.uk World War II and dedicated to one of his closest friend, who had just died. Schubert’s serene Notturno will complete the programme. Jessica Dandy and Dylan Perez 3pm, Sunday 28 October Jessica Dandy (Coltrato) was the winner of the London Bach Society Singers Prize 2017. Since the Oxford Lieder Festival initiated its Young Artists Platform Scheme, in 2012, Aberystwyth has been one of the venues at which winning singers from the Scheme perform in a concert sponsored by Oxford Lieder. This year the 2018 winners, contralto Jessica Dandy and her accompanist Dylan Perez (Piano), will be performing a programme including songs from Hugo Wolf’s Mörike Lieder, Poulenc’s Chansons villageoises, Schumann’s Liederkreis, and Vaughan Williams Four Last Songs, along with Duparc’s Chanson triste and La Vie antérieure. Jessica Dandy Emma Abbate and Julian Perkins 3pm, Sunday 25 November Julian and Emma have performed piano duet recitals at many prestigious UK venues, including the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and London's Southbank Centre. They have just released their second volume of Mozart's complete piano duets on period instruments. They will be playing Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite in its original form and Schubert’s Rondo in A major, as well as four-hand masterpieces by Dvořák, Mozart and Weber.
