Aberystwyth Arts Centre 7.45pm, Thursday 11 October Adverse Camber Productions presents Dreaming the Night Field: a legend of Wales |
Storyteller Michael Harvey Singer Lynne Denman Composer/Musician Stacey Blythe Director Paula Crutchlow Producer Naomi Wilds Associate Producers Wales Sandra Bendelow & Tamar Williams Honour, justice, magic and transformation collide in this spellbinding new storytelling and music performance which evokes the ancient Welsh legend of The Fourth Branch of The Mabinogion. Gwydion, nephew to the King, a magician and storyteller, provokes a war between North and South Wales and unleashes a chaos of consequences. Blodeuwedd, a woman conjured from flowers, is torn between duty and desire, with fateful results. Experience a world that’s bristling with life, filled with animals, people and constellations caught in stories of making and undoing. By turns thrilling, funny, powerful and poetic, Dreaming the Night Field features one of Wales’ most engaging storytellers alongside exquisitely haunting live music. Brought to you by Adverse Camber productions and the creative team behind the much loved Hunting the Giant’s Daughter, we are delighted to bring this show on tour right across Wales and for the first time to present both a bilingual and Welsh version, take a look at the dates to see which version is near you. Join us for an intoxicating performance that makes ancient voices and landscapes come alive. “The highlight of the festival was an incredible epic telling of the Fourth Branch of the Mabinogion… a well-deserved standing ovation.” Wales Arts Review Comments made by audience members: "The storytelling was brilliant… the singing was out of this world."
