ABREYSTWYYTH ARTS CENTRE Pickled Image: Yana and The Yeti 2pm, Sunday 14 October |
Pickled Image & Olivier-nominated writer Hattie Naylor’s beautiful and dark family play is a tale of survival, friendship, adventure and a Yeti. Its 1950, with the looming threat of the Cold War, and a poor community on the edge of a Siberian forest find themselves cut off from civilisation. They have no proper roads or electricity, even the railway hasn’t reached them yet. Yana, a young girl of 8, arrives in this remote snow-bound village surrounded by forest and strange noises. She can’t understand a word anyone says, and the other children tease her. One day, she joins the other children of the village on a trip out into the snow. Then things get really hairy… With a cast of extraordinary puppets, this is a dark, funny and poignant tale proving that friends can come in the most unexpected shapes and sizes. Suitable for ages 8+ Tickets are available from the Arts Centre Box Office on 01970 62 32 32 or online at www.aberystwythartscentre.co.uk |
