Wedi'i chyfarwyddo gan Roy Alexander Weise, mae drama hunangofiannol y bardd Nick Makoha, The Dark, yn mynd ar daith y gwanwyn gan ddilyn rhediad poblogaidd iawn yn Ovalhouse, Llundain.

Bydd The Dark, drama newydd gan y bardd Nick Makoha yn teithio Prydain yng Ngwanwyn 2019, ac yn ymweld â Chanolfan y Celfyddydau Aberystwyth ar Ionawr 26ain, un o ddim ond dau berfformiad yng Nghymru.

Mae’n adrodd yr hanes hunangofiannol erchyll a dyrchafol o sut wnaeth ef a’i fam dianc rhag Uganda Idi Amin yn 1978. Mae dau berfformiwr yn chwarae cymeriadau lluosog yn yr archwiliad hwn o atgof sydd wedi’i gyfarwyddo gan y gwobrwyiedig Roy Alexnader Weise (Nine Night).

Mae The Dark yn hanes o daith Nick a’i fam i ddianc gwlad wedi’i gwahanu gan unbennaeth a’i dominyddu gan wrthdaro.


Cyd-comisynwyd gan Fuel ac Ovalhouse, cefnogir gan Arts Council England, The Cockayne Trust, The London Community Foundation, The Garrick Charitable Trust, Unity Theatre Trust, The Sylvia Waddilove Foundation a TORCH. Cefnogwyd datblygu gan PULSE Festival, Coombe Farm Studios a fel rhan o gyfres FiRST BiTES Ovalhouse.
Directed by Roy Alexander Weise, poet Nick Makoha's new auto-biographical play, The Dark, will embark on a spring tour following the hugely popular run at Ovalhouse, London.


The Dark, a new play by poet Nick Makoha will tour the UK in Spring 2019, and visits Aberystwyth Arts Centre on January 26th, one of only two dates in Wales.



It tells the harrowing and uplifting auto-biographical story of how he and his mother escaped from Idi Amin’s Uganda in 1978. Two performers play multiple characters in this exploration of memory which is directed by the award-winning Roy Alexander Weise (Nine Night).


The Dark is a story of the journey taken by Nick and his mother to escape a country divided by dictatorship and consumed by conflict.

Co-commissioned by Fuel and Ovalhouse, supported by Arts Council England, The Cockayne Trust, The London Community Foundation, The Garrick Charitable Trust, Unity Theatre Trust, The Sylvia Waddilove Foundation and TORCH. Development supported by PULSE Festival, Coombe Farm Studios and as part of Ovalhouse’s FiRST BiTES series.
