MEHEFIN 5 JUNE Trwy fis Mehefin bydd y gitarydd a chyfansoddwr Seisnig Richard Durrant yn cyflwyno'i ddathliad cerddorol o ganol haf gyda chyfres fer o gyngherddau unigol. Bydd Richard yn ymweld â lleoliadau yn Lloegr a Chymru ble bydd cyfle i gynulleidfaoedd clywed y 3rd Cello Suite gan JS Bach yn ei gyfanrwydd ar iwcalili, alawon gwerin Brydeinig ar y gitâr tenor a nifer o gyfansoddiadau gwreiddiol Durrant.

Dywed Richard, "I want to use these gigs to explore the real meaning of midsummer - and surely there's no better way to do this than playing music and meeting people."

Llynedd wnaeth Richard seiclo'i gyngherddau o'r gadeirlan yn Orkeyn yr holl ffordd i arfordir Sussex, gan gynnwys perfformiad byw ar BBC Radio 3 o ganol Fforest Sherwood. Wnaeth e hefyd rhyddhau ei albwm dwbl gyntaf Stringhenge, perfformiodd The Richard Durrant Orchestra am y tro gyntaf a chwaraeodd Richard yr iwcalili ar gyfer pen-blwydd Tywysog Siarl yn Buckingham Palace.

Mwy gan y gitarydd unigryw: “People don’t tend stop for midsummer, but I still hope to bring a moment of stillness and peace to people as we live through the very centre of the year and experience the summer solstice together.”
Throughout June the English guitarist and composer Richard Durrant presents his musical celebration of midsummer in a short series of solo concerts. Richard will be visiting venues in England and Wales where audiences can hear JS Bach’s 3rd Cello Suite played in its entirety on the ukulele, British folk melodies played on Tenor Guitar and a number of Durrant originals on concert guitar.

Richard says: “I want to use these gigs to explore the real meaning of midsummer – and surely there’s no better way to do this than playing music and meeting people”.

Last year Richard cycled his concerts from the cathedral on Orkney all the way to the Sussex coast, including a live performance on BBC Radio 3 from the centre of Sherwood Forest. He also released his first double album Stringhenge, The Richard Durrant Orchestra gave its debut performance and Richard played ukulele for Prince Charles’ birthday at Buckingham Palace.

More from the maverick guitarist: “People don’t tend stop for midsummer, but I still hope to bring a moment of stillness and peace to people as we live through the very centre of the year and experience the summer solstice together.”
