ACTORES Y GWYLL AC UN BORE MERCHER HANNAH DANIEL YN CAEL EI CHASTIO YN Y SIOE UN FENYW HON

● Bydd monolog bwerus National Theatre Wales, For All I Care yn cael ei rhagddangos yng Nghanolfan Gelfyddydau Chapter, Caerdydd y mis hwn cyn cael ei pherfformio yng Ngŵyl Ymylol Caeredin yn ystod yr haf

● Mae For All I Care, sydd wedi'i sgriptio gan y dramodydd Cymreig o fri, Alan Harris

Bydd actores Y Gwyll ac Un Bore Mercher, Hannah Daniel, yn perfformio am y tro cyntaf yng Ngŵyl Ymylol Caeredin yr haf hwn yng nghynhyrchiad National Theatre Wales o For All I Care. Gall cynulleidfaoedd yng Nghymru weld rhagddangosiadau Caeredin o'r sioe yng Nghanolfan Gelfyddydau Chapter, Caerdydd, ar 24 a 25 Gorffennaf 2019.

Mae For All I Care wedi'i hysgrifennu gan Alan Harris, y mae ei waith blaenorol, uchel ei glod a gyflwynwyd yng Ngŵyl Ymylol Caeredin yn cynnwys Sugar Baby a How My Light is Spent. Mae'r cynhyrchiad wedi'i gyfarwyddo gan y cyfarwyddwr theatr clodwiw Jac Ifan Moore.

Mae For All I Care yn un o ddau gynhyrchiad gan National Theatre Wales fydd yn cael eu llwyfannu yn Summerhall Caeredin drwy gydol Gŵyl Caeredin eleni. Bydd Cotton Fingers, a ysgrifennwyd gan Rachel Tresize, a'i gyfarwyddo gan Julia Thomas, gydag Amy Molloy yn y bri fran, hefyd yn rhedeg drwy'r ŵyl.

Meddai Kully Thiarai, Cyfarwyddwr Artistig National Theatre Wales, "Wrth i ni baratoi ar gyfer blwyddyn gyffrous arall yng Ngŵyl Caeredin, rydym yn falch iawn o gyhoeddi y bydd Hannah Daniel yn ymuno â ni ar gyfer ein cynhyrchiad o For All I Care, un o bum monolog a grëwyd y llynedd fel rhan o ddathliad NTW o'r GIG yn 70. Ar ôl taith lwyddiannus o amgylch Cymru gyda The Stick Maker Tales, gyda'r actor Llion Williams, a pherfformiadau o Cotton Fingers yn Iwerddon, Gogledd Iwerddon a Chaerdydd, rwyf wrth fy modd y bydd gan gynulleidfaoedd yng Nghymru gyfle arall yn awr i weld For All I Care. Bydd y darn ingol a phwerus hwn gan Alan Harris, yn cael ei berfformio yng Nghanolfan Gelfyddydau Chapter yn ddiweddarach y mis hwn cyn mynd i Gaeredin a chael ei berfformio ochr yn ochr â Cotton Fingers i gynulleidfa ryngwladol."

Dywedodd Hannah Daniel, "Rwy’n teimlo’n ffodus dros ben i fod yn gweithio gyda National Theatre Wales ar y prosiect hwn – mae Alan wedi ysgrifennu darn teimladwy a doniol ac rwy’n edrych ymlaen at fynd o dan ei groen gyda chymorth cyfarwyddyd Jac. Yn ei hanfod, mae’n stori am berthynas ddynol, gofal a charedigrwydd – rhywbeth rwy’n credu sydd angen ar bob un ohonom y dyddiau hyn! Rwy’ wrth fy modd â Gŵyl Caeredin – rwy’ bob amser yn gadael yn llawn mwynhad, felly mae cael perfformio yno eleni gyda NTW, yn gyffrous iawn."

Wrth sôn am y ddrama, dywed yr awdur Alan Harris, "Mae angen atebion ar gymdeithas ar hyn o bryd; atebion i pam na fu, i bob pwrpas, unrhyw lywodraeth ers pleidlais Brexit, pam yn ddiweddar y teimlai'r Arolygiaeth Iechyd fod angen beirniadu'r ddarpariaeth o welyau i bobl ifanc â phroblemau iechyd meddwl yng Nghymru, gallai'r rhestr "pam" hyn fynd ymlaen ... Mae un peth yn sicr, nid yw'r status quo yn rhoi unrhyw atebion ac mae hynny'n gwthio pobl i mewn i weithredoedd radicalaidd. Mae hon yn ddrama am y dewisiadau anodd ac amhosib yn aml y mae pobl yn eu hwynebu bob dydd. Mae dau gymeriad canolog gwahanol iawn yn For All I Care, ill dwy'n dyheu am gysylltiad er gwaetha'r pwysau sydd arnynt. Mae angen y cysylltiad hwnnw arnom yn awr, o gymeriad i gymeriad, o actor i gynulleidfa i'r byd ehangach."

Clara a Nyri. Dwy fenyw wahanol iawn. Dau fywyd cymhleth. Y ddwy yn cael diwrnod gwael iawn.

Mae'r nyrs iechyd meddwl Nyri wedi deffro â phen mawr gyda dyn iau. Yn y cyfamser, mae Clara wedi datblygu winc cymhellol ac nid yw'n gallu cofio os yw wedi cymryd ei meddyginiaeth.

Mae angen i Nyri fynd i Ysbyty Glynebwy gan alw yn Greggs, ac mae Clara yn osgoi arwyddion - rhai anghwrtais iawn - sy'n dweud wrthi am ladd ei hun, fel y gall hi fwrw iddi gyda'i rhestr siopa i'r Diafol.

Mae For All I Care a Cotton Fingers yn ddwy fonolog o '’Love Letters to the NHS', cyfres o fonologau a berfformiwyd am y tro cyntaf ym mis Gorffennaf 2018 fel rhan o Ŵyl NHS70, dathliad National Theatre Wales o ben-blwydd y gwasanaeth yn 70.

Tra yng Nghaeredin, caiff For All I Care ei chyflwyno fel rhan o arddangosfa Caeredin - Dyma Gymru. Bydd Cotton Fingers yn cael ei chyflwyno fel rhan o Arddangosfa Caeredin y Cyngor Prydeinig 2019.

Mae National Theatre Wales yn dychwelyd i Ŵyl Ymylol Caeredin yr haf hwn ar ôl ymweld â sioeau megis Dark Philosophers, Wonderman a The Radicalisation of Bradley Manning - drama am y milwr Americanaidd a gafwyd yn euog o ryddhau cyfrinachau gwladol yr Unol Daleithiau i Wikileaks. Cyhoeddwyd cynhyrchiad NTW o Bradley Manning fel enillydd cyntaf Gwobr James Tait Black am ddrama yn yr ŵyl.

CASTING ANNOUNCED FOR NATIONAL THEATRE WALES’
FOR ALL I CARE AHEAD OF PERFORMANCES IN CARDIFF AND EDINBURGH FESTIVAL FRINGE 2019

HINTERLAND AND KEEPING FAITH ACTOR HANNAH DANIEL IS CAST IN THIS ONE-WOMAN SHOW

National Theatre Wales’ powerful monologue, For All I Care will be previewed in Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff this month before being performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this summer
For All I Care is scripted by acclaimed Welsh playwright Alan Harris
Hinterland and Keeping Faith actress, Hannah Daniel, will make her Edinburgh Fringe debut this summer in National Theatre Wales’ production of For All I Care. Audiences in Wales can catch Edinburgh preview performances of the show in Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff, on 24 and 25 July 2019.

For All I Care is written by Alan Harris, whose previous highly acclaimed work presented at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe includes Sugar Baby and How My Light is Spent. The production is directed by lauded theatre director Jac Ifan Moore.

For All I Care is one of two productions from National Theatre Wales which will be staged at Edinburgh’s Summerhall throughout this year’s Edinburgh Festival. Cotton Fingers, written by Rachel Tresize, directed by Julia Thomas, starring Amy Molloy, will also run throughout the festival.

Kully Thiarai, Artistic Director at National Theatre Wales said “As we prepare for another exciting year at the Edinburgh Festival, we are delighted to announce that Hannah Daniel will be joining us for our production of For All I Care, one of five monologues created last year as part of NTW’s celebration of the NHS at 70. After a successful tour of Wales with The Stick Maker Tales, which featured Llion Williams, and a run of Cotton Fingers in Ireland, Northern Ireland and Cardiff, I am thrilled that audiences in Wales will now also have another opportunity to see For All I Care. This poignant and powerful piece by Alan Harris, will be performed in Chapter Arts Centre later this month before heading to Edinburgh to play alongside Cotton Fingers to an international audience.”

Ahead of her rehearsals for For All I Care, Hannah Daniel said “I feel extremely lucky to be working with National Theatre Wales on this project - Alan has written an incredibly heart-felt, funny piece that I can’t wait to get under the skin of under Jac’s direction. Essentially, it’s a story about human connection, care and kindness - which I think we could all do with a dose of these days! I love the Edinburgh Festival - I always leave buzzing with joy, so to be performing this year with NTW, is very exciting indeed.”

Talking about the play, writer Alan Harris says “There’s a need in society for answers right now; answers to why there has been, effectively, no government since the Brexit vote, why the Health Inspectorate recently felt the need to criticise the provision of beds for young people with mental health problems in Wales, the list of these “whys” could go on... One thing is for sure, the status quo isn’t providing any answers and that pushes people into radical actions. This is a play about the difficult and often impossible choices people are faced with every day. There are two very different central characters in For All I Care, both yearning for a connection despite the pressures they’re under. We need that connection right now, from character to character, actor to audience to the wider world.”

Clara and Nyri. Two very different women. Two complicated lives. Both having a very bad day.

Mental health nurse Nyri’s woken up hungover with a younger man. Meanwhile, Clara has developed a compulsive wink and can’t remember if she’s taken her meds.

Nyri needs to get to Ebbw Vale Hospital via Greggs, and Clara is dodging signs telling her - rather rudely - to kill herself, so she can get cracking with her shoplifting list for The Devil.

For All I Care and Cotton Fingers are two monologues from the ‘Love Letter to the NHS’, a series of monologues which premiered in July 2018 as part of the NHS70 Festival, National Theatre Wales celebration of the Service’s 70th birthday.

Whilst in Edinburgh, For All I Care will be presented as part of This is Wales – Edinburgh showcase. Whilst Cotton Fingers is presented as part of the British Council Edinburgh Showcase 2019.

National Theatre Wales returns to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this summer having previously visited with shows such as Dark Philosophers, Wonderman and The Radicalisation of Bradley Manning - a play about the American soldier convicted of releasing US state secrets to Wikileaks. The play was announced as the first winner of the James Tait Black Prize for drama at the festival.

For All I Care will be performed at Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff on 24 and 25 July 2019 at 7.30pm. Ticket prices are £12/£10. Tickets are now on sale via the Box Office - 029 2030 4400 / www.chapter.org
