YMARFERION AR Y GWEILL GYDAG ACTORION IFANC OLIVER!
REHEARSALS UNDERWAY WITH THE YOUNG ACTORS OF OLIVER!
Lionel Bart's Oliver!
Canolfan y Celfyddydau Aberystwyth Arts Centre
Awst 9-31 August

Ym mis Awst bydd Canolfan y Celfyddydau Aberystwyth yn cyflwyno’i sioe gerdd tymor yr haf, Oliver! gan Lionel Bart, gyda chast mawr o berfformwyr theatr gerddorol yn cyrraedd Aberystwyth ar Orffennaf 22ain a phlant a phobl ifanc lleol yn ymarfer yn barod. I lawer o’r bobl ifanc, dyma fydd eu blas gyntaf ar berfformio mewn cynhyrchiad proffesiynol.

Mae'r addasiad cerddorol arobryn o nofel glasurol Dickens yn dod yn fyw, yn nodweddu rhai o'r cymeriadau a chaneuon mwyaf cofiadwy i daro'r llwyfan erioed. Yn seiliedig ar nofel Charles Dickens, Oliver Twist, mae'r sioe, sydd wedi ennill gwobrau Tony ac Olivier, yn un o'r ychydig sioeau cerdd i ennill Gwobr Academi am Ffilm Orau ac fe'i hystyrir yn eang fel gwir gampwaith theatraidd gan actorion ac aelodau'r gynulleidfa fel ei gilydd. Mae'n nodweddu llu o ganeuon adnabyddus yn cynnwys Consider Yourself, Who Will Buy, Food Glorious Food, a llawer mwy.

Bydd y rôl ganolog o Oliver yn cael ei lenwi gan dri actor lleol, sef Rhodri Jenkins, Charlie Longman a Mackenzie Lawlor; a bydd y pigiwr pocedi enwog yr Artful Dodger yn cael ei chwarae gan Anirudh Krishna a Sam Rolt.

Mae gan yr actorion ifanc profiad helaeth o actio yn Aberystwyth ac mae’r tîm creadigol yng Nghanolfan y Celfyddydau’n wrth eu boddau i arddangos eu talentau yn y cynhyrchiad. Bydd ddau ensemble plant hefyd yn perfformio yn y cynhyrchiad, yn chwarae plant amddifad criw stryd Fagin, mewn sioe llawn-dop a chofiadwy.

Dau aelod amlwg ymysg ensemble’r oedolion yw Maeve Courier-Lilley a Jordan Lloyd Jones, wynebau cyfarwydd yn lleol sydd wedi bod yn rhan o gynyrchiadau yng Nghanolfan y Celfyddydau am flynyddoedd ers eu plentyndod. Gydag Oliver! bydd y ddau ohonynt yn perfformio’n broffesiynol am y tro gyntaf, cyn iddynt fynd ati ar gamau nesaf eu hyfforddiant proffesiynol.

Bydd Oliver! yn agor ar Nos Wener, 9fed Awst, am 7:30pm, ac yn rhedeg tan diwedd y mis, yn cynnig digonedd o gyfleoedd i'r teulu cyfan i fwynhau'r clasur bywiog hwn. I archebu tocynnau ac am ragor o wybodaeth, ymwelwch â www.aberystwythartscentre.co.uk neu ffoniwch y swyddfa docynnau ar 01970 623232.

This August Aberystwyth Arts Centre presents its summer season musical, Lionel Bart’s Oliver!, with the large cast of musical theatre performers due to arrive in Aberystwyth on July 22nd, and local children and young people well underway with rehearsals. For many of the young people, this will be their first experience of performing in a professional production.
The award-winning musical adaptation of the classic Dickens' novel springs to life with some of the most memorable characters and songs ever to hit the stage. Based on Charles Dickens' novel, Oliver Twist, the Tony and Olivier Award-winning show is one of the few musicals to win an Academy Award for Best Picture and is widely hailed as a true theatrical masterpiece by actors and audience members alike. It features a string of well-known songs including Consider Yourself, Who Will Buy, Food Glorious Food, and many more.

The key central role of Oliver will be played by three local actors, Rhodri Jenkins, Charlie Longman and Mackenzie Lawlor; while that famous pick-pocket the Artful Dodger will be played by Anirudh Krishna and Sam Rolt.

These young actors all have extensive experience of acting in Aberystwyth and the Aberystwyth Arts Centre creative team is thrilled to showcase their talents in this production. Two children’s ensembles will also feature in the production, playing the many orphans of Fagin’s street gang, in a jam-packed and memorable show.

Two key members of the adults’ ensemble are Maeve Courtier-Lilley and Jordan Lloyd Jones, familiar local faces who have spent many years taking part in productions at the Arts Centre. With Oliver! they’ll both be making their professional debuts ahead of embarking on the next stages of their continuing professional training.

Oliver! will open on Friday, 9th August, at 7:30pm, and run through until the end of the month, offering plenty of opportunities to enjoy this lively classic for all the family. To book tickets and for more information, visit www.aberystwythartscentre.co.uk or call the box office on 01970 623232.
