Ers dechrau'r Loteri Genedlaethol ar 19 Tachwedd 1994, codwyd dros £40 biliwn ar gyfer achosion da ym meysydd y celfyddydau, chwaraeon, treftadaeth a'r gymuned. Mae'r Loteri Genedlaethol wedi creu dros 5,350 o filiwnyddion ond ei phrif bwrpas yw cyfrannu at achosion da - dyfarnwyd dros 565,000 o grantiau unigol ledled y DU, sy'n gyfartal â 200 o brosiectau sy'n newid bywydau mewn pob ardal côd post yn y DU. Mae'r 25ain benblwydd yn gyfle i ddathlu'r effaith eithriadol y mae'r Loteri Genedlaethol wedi cael ar y DU, ac i ddweud diolch i chwaraewyr y Loteri Genedlaethol am gyfrannu £30 miliwn at achosion da bob wythnos. Bu'r arian a dderbyniwyd gan Ganolfan y Celfyddydau Aberystwyth o'r Loteri Genedlaethol, trwy Gyngor Celfyddydau Cymru, yn agor drysau i brosiect ailddatblygiad sylweddol a gymerodd bedair blynedd i'w gynllunio, dwy flynedd i'w wireddu ac a agorwyd i'r cyhoedd ym mis Ebrill 2000. Dylunwyd y prosiect ailddatblygiad arobryn £4.3 miliwn gan y pensaer Peter Roberts, gan ychwanegu gofod oriel newydd gwych, nifer o weithdai pwrpasol, sinema, stiwdios dawns, theatr stiwdio a chyntedd theatr estynedig. Derbyniodd y prosiect £2.6 miliwn oddi wrth Gynllun Loteri Genedlaethol Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru. Mae'r ystadegau yn dyst i lwyddiant aruthrol y prosiect hwn. Cafwyd cynnydd o fwy na 75% mewn mynychwyr perfformiadau a gweithgareddau yn y 10 mlynedd cyntaf ers yr ailddatblygiad. Bu nifer y cyfranogwyr yn y rhaglen gelfyddydau cymunedol yn codi o 30,000 i 84,000 yn ystod 2018/2019; cododd nifer yr ymwelwyr ag arddangosfeydd o 40,000 i dros 66,000 a'r nifer yn mynychu'r sinema o 5,000 i 36,000. Bu datblygiadau'r mileniwm yn sicrhau bod Canolfan y Celfyddydau Prifysgol Aberystwyth yn un o'r canolfannau mwyaf yn y DU y tu allan i Lundain ar gyfer y celfyddydau perfformio a gweledol, wedi'i lleoli ar ganol campws y Brifysgol ac yn croesawu dros 662,000 o ymwelwyr y flwyddyn. Mae llawer iawn o unigolion wedi manteisio ar ddatblygiadau'r Ganolfan, yn arbennig trwy'r gwaith helaeth a wnaethpwyd gan y tîm Dysgu Creadigol ar hyd y blynyddoedd. Gyda chymorth y Loteri Genedlaethol i ehangu'r cyfleusterau Dysgu Creadigol, mae'r Ganolfan wedi medru cynnig amrywiaeth wych o weithgareddau, o fodelu mewn clai i'r theatr ieuenctid, o animeiddiad i ddawns Bollywood. Mae gan y Ganolfan Ysgol Ddawns, Ysgol Lwyfan a Theatr Ieuenctid llewyrchus, yn ogystal â dosbarthiadau rheolaidd yn y celfyddydau gweledol ar gyfer oedolion a phlant. Mae'r Ganolfan hefyd yn cynnal prosiectau cymunedol a gwyliau megis gŵyl Gwanwyn - gŵyl flynyddol i bobl dros 50 oed, sy'n anelu at ddatblygu eu doniau creadigol ac ychwanegu at eu lles. Yn gweithio gyda thîm o dros 40 o artistiaid a thiwtoriaid talentog, mae'r tîm Dysgu Creadigol yn cynnal dros 7,000 o wersi bob blwyddyn. Ceir cyfranogwyr o bob oedran, o'r babis sy'n cymryd rhan yn y Clwb 123 poblogaidd i ŵr bonheddig 94 oed a rannodd straeon o'i orffennol fel rhan o'r clwb Gwanwyn. Mae llawer o'r cyfranogwyr yn astudio ar gyfer arholiadau LAMDA, RAD ac ISTD, ochr yn ochr â menter newydd y Ganolfan fel canolfan Ddyfarniad Celfyddydol, sy'n galluogi pobl ifanc 5-25 oed i ennill cymhwyster a gydnabyddir yn genedlaethol mewn amrywiaeth o ffurfiau celf. Mae Laura Baker, un o enillwyr Dyfarniad cyntaf Ian McKellen Canolfan y Celfyddydau Aberystwyth 2019, yn enghraifft wych o sut mae unigolion wedi ffynnu gyda chefnogaeth adran Ddysgu Creadigol Canolfan y Celfyddydau. Bydd Laura, sy'n 19 oed, yn gweithio tuag at ei Gradd BA mewn Addysg Bale yn yr Academi Ddawns Frenhinol. Dywed Laura: “Mae'r Ganolfan wedi bod yn rhan fawr o'm bywyd ers i mi ddechrau gwersi bale yma yn dair oed, ac 'rwyf wedi ennill profiad gwerthfawr o'm hyfforddiant yma fel aelod o'r Ysgol Ddawns, yr Ysgol Lwyfan, y Theatr Ieuenctid a chyfleoedd perfformio gyda Phantomeim yr Wardens a chynyrchiadau Nadolig y Ganolfan. 'Rwyf wrth fy modd yn medru parhau fy hyfforddiant yn y celfyddydau trwy astudio am radd BA (Anrhydedd) mewn Addysg Bale yn yr Academi Ddawns Frenhinol yn Llundain. Gobeithiaf drosglwyddo fy nghariad tuag at bale a'm diddordeb yn y celfyddydau i'r genhedlaeth nesaf, unai fel pleser yn unig, neu ar gyfer y sawl sy'n dymuno dilyn gyrfa yn y maes. Since The National Lottery’s first draw took place on 19 November 1994, more than £40 billion has been raised for good causes in the areas of arts, sport, heritage and community. The National Lottery has made more than 5,350 millionaires but its primary purpose is giving to good causes - over 565,000 individual grants have been awarded across the UK, that’s the equivalent of 200 life-changing projects in every UK postcode district. The 25th birthday is a moment to celebrate the extraordinary impact The National Lottery has had on the UK, and to say thank you to National Lottery players for contributing around £30 million to good causes every week. The advent of National Lottery Funding to Aberystwyth Arts Centre, through the Arts Council of Wales, opened doors for a major redevelopment project which was four years in the planning, two years in the making and opened to the public in April 2000. The £4.3 million award winning redevelopment project was designed by architect Peter Roberts, and added a stunning new gallery space, purpose built workshop spaces, a cinema, dance studios, a studio theatre and enhanced the theatre foyer space. The project received £2.6 million from the Arts Council Wales National Lottery Scheme. The success of this project is seen in the increase in all the indicators. Annual attendances at performances and events increased by more than 75% in the first 10 years since the development. Participation in community arts has increased from 30,000 attendances to 84,000 in 2018/2019; attendance at exhibitions are up from 40,000 to over 66,000 and cinema attendance is up from 5,000 to 36,000. The millennium developments have made Aberystwyth University‘s Arts Centre into one of the largest performing and visual arts complexes in the UK outside London, situated at the very centre of the University campus and welcoming over 662,000 visitors a year. Many individuals have benefited from the Arts Centre developments, especially through the extensive work that the Creative Learning team has done over the years. With help from the National Lottery to enhance the Creative Learning spaces, the Arts Centre has been able to offer a variety of creative learning activities, from clay modelling to youth theatre, animation to Bollywood dance. There is a thriving Dance School, Stage School and Youth Theatre, as well as regular visual arts classes for adults and children. The Arts Centre also delivers community projects and festivals like the Gwanwyn festival – an annual festival for people aged 50+, developing their creativity and sense of wellbeing. Working with a team of over 40 talented artists and tutors, the Creative Learning team deliver over 7,000 lessons every year. Participants are all ages, from babies taking part in the popular Clwb 123 to a gentleman aged 94 who shared stories from his past as part of Gwanwyn. Many participants study for exams in LAMDA, RAD, ISTD, along with the Arts Centre’s new venture as an Arts Award centre, enabling people aged 5-25 to gain a nationally recognised qualification in a variety of artforms. Laura Baker, a winner of the inaugural Aberystwyth Arts Centre Ian McKellen Award 2019, is a shining example of how people have blossomed through the support of the Arts Centre’s Creative Learning department. 19 year old Laura Baker will be working towards her BA Hons Degree in Ballet Education at the Royal Academy of Dance. Laura said: “The Arts Centre has been a huge part of my life from when I started ballet at the age of three, and I have gained invaluable experience from my training here as a member of the Dance School, Stage School, Youth Theatre and performance opportunities with the Wardens Pantomime and Arts Centre Christmas productions. I am thrilled to be continuing my arts training by studying the BA (Hons) Ballet Education and Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Dance at their headquarters in London. I hope to pass on my love of ballet and passion for the arts to the next generation, either purely for enjoyment of for those wishing to pursue it as a career. The arts have been a vital part of my childhood and, I believe, needs to continue to be promoted and fully supported.” To celebrate the success of Aberystwyth Arts Centre’s Creative Learning department and 25 Years of the National Lottery, the Creative Learning team will offer a morning of free arts and crafts activities, open to all those who present a lottery ticket, on Saturday 23 November 2019.
