LabCulture Residency Programme

PVA MediaLab is currently accepting submissions for its next round of the LabCulture Residency Programme. The intensive, week long labs offer artists a chance to engage with new tools and work within a critical environment, while focusing on production of new material and time out from regular work. They are fully residential, offering research and development time over one week. Artists have time to experiment with new ways of working, to research or take an idea further, or to pursue their creative process without the pressure of having to realise a final outcome. Artists will be given tuition in relevant tools, provided by experienced new media practitioners and artist facilitators.

The programme is developed through partnerships with UK arts organisations and aims to stimulate diverse practice and collaboration. The residencies are open to UK based artists (with a small number going to non-UK based applicants) practising in a wide range of disciplines such as: new media, performance, installation, sound art, etc. Applications are also welcome from musicians, writers, dancers, and interdisciplinary artists.

Residencies include full board, but do not cover travel to and from the host venue. The 2003/04 programme commences at Isis Arts in Newcastle and tours to Peterborough Digital Arts, Vivid - Birmingham, Northern Visions - Belfast, ArtSway - New Forest, and IDAT (University of Plymouth) - Plymouth. The application deadline for the first lab at Isis Arts is 17 October 2003, and artists must be available during the period 23 - 30 November 2003.
