In collaboration with the ARCO Foundation (known for the annual Contemporary Art Fair in Madrid), the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology has just announced the first Art, Science and Technology Award - ARANEUM. The award aims to promote the production of art and critical thinking related to the Internet. Selected proposals will receive a monetary award to assist in the production of the final work. Applications/proposals will be accepted in the following two fields: ‘Internet-related artwork’ (with an award of €20,000) and ‘Research project on Internet creativity’ (with an award of €10,000). Application is open to artists from around the world. Submissions are welcomed in Spanish and English, and must be submitted by 15 December 2003. Winners will be chosen by an international group of jurors, and will be announced on 14 February 2004. All applications must be submitted via the website.
