'sagas - Writing Interactive Fiction', a joint initiative of European MEDIA Plus Programme Training and Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film München, is currently offering two training courses in narrative interactive content. The working language of both courses is English, and applications must be made separately. The cost of each course is ?400 for freelancers/ ?1,600 for companies. Application deadline for both courses is 20th January 2004. Details of the courses are as follows: * Developing Narrative Games Workshop, with Ernest Adams 6th - 12th February 2004, Karlsruhe, Germany Participants will work alone and in teams, developing a design treatment for a narrative game. Participants will study the fundamentals of computer game design, and the relationship between interactivity and narrative. The format of the course will be mostly hands-on, with a few lectures. *Interactive Digital Moviemaking Workshop, with Christopher Hales 20th - 27th February 2004, Munich, Germany Design and production of desktop interactive non-linear narratives using 'live-action' video footage. Aspects of creating interactive movies will be explored, emphasising visual metaphors for interaction rather than written scriptwriting. Desktop production techniques will be demonstrated, but concentration will be on innovation and aesthetics rather than detailed technical/software issues. The course will involve lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on participation. Confirmed participants from MEDIA member countries may apply for reimbursement of travel expenses (at economy standards) and accommodation.
