Dylan's Portrait at Mold

CLWYD Theatr Cymru is taking a theatrical journey through the work of Dylan Thomas.

Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog is an original show created by director Tim Baker. It is a simple, straightforward staging of a number of Thomas's most popular stories, many of which explore his vibrant memories of childhood and adolescence.

The stories are linked by excerpts from his own commentary on the craft of writing and his own love for words.

The show presents a picture of Thomas's journey from his boyhood in Swansea through a charming, witty and sometimes desperately sad rite of passage to become a young man and author with his own distinctive voice.

The ensemble company includes Steven Meo, who appears in the BBC Wales comedy High Hopes and in the drama series Belonging, and Christian Patterson, who played in the Royal Shakespeare Company production of The Secret Garden in the West End.

All members of the cast take on several roles in this production which will tour Bangor, Aberystwyth, Swan- sea, Milford Haven, Cardiff and Huddersfield, following its run in Mold.

Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog runs at Clwyd Theatr Cymru, Mold, from January 8 to 31. To book, contact the box office on 0845 330 3565.
