Disability Access in the Arts Training

The Independent Theatre Council (ITC) is offering 'Access to Services for Arts Organisations', a one-day course designed to demystify the legislation of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) and explore ways of broadening access for disabled people to arts services whether as patrons, customers or service users. This course is aimed at managers/administrators involved in the delivery of services who are concerned about whether their organisation is meeting the current legislation.

Participation in the course will provide:

* An understanding of the scope of the DDA 1995 and what it means to your organisation;
* An understanding of your key responsibilities as an employer;
* Identification of areas in your organisation needing policy, practice and procedural change in their approach to 'disability';
* Confidence in identifying 'who is disabled';
* An understanding of what is needed in terms of resources and time-scale to improve access for disabled people to your organisation.

The course will be held in London on 20th January 2004 from 10am - 5pm and will be facilitated by Ann Pointon (Disability Consultant and Trainer). The cost of the course is £140 + VAT. Booking forms and further information can be found on the 'Training' section of ITC's website <http://www.itc-arts.org>), or by contacting:
