The Centre for Performance Research, Aberystwyth, is holding the eighth Giving Voice Festival from 30th March to 7th April. The Festival will include workshops, presentations, performances and discussion, and will take place in both Aberystwyth (at the Parry Williams Building from 30th March - 3rd April) and Cardiff (at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama from 5th - 7th April). The theme for 2004, 'Thinking Voice, Feeling Voice - Towards a Philosophy and Psychology of the Voice', will explore philosophies and psychologies influencing and governing performance techniques, teaching practices, analyses, valuations and understandings of the voice as well as offering insights into the relationship between thinking, feeling and utterance. The festival also includes the third gathering for community choirs in Wales. Prices for the festival range from £60 (£45 unwaged) for a one day pass, to £350 (£275 unwaged) for the full festival. The full festival ticket allows access to all events for the whole Festival, including performances, workshops and presentations. Ticket discounts increase with the number of days booked. Prices do not include accommodation, but information can be provided about University student accommodation or private B&B and hotel options.
