About Us Academy of Musical Theatre Wales has been established to allow up and coming performers to realise their dream within the industry. We recognise that many people wish to become actors, singers and dancers but are unable to attend a London based theatre school due to such high costs. AMT-Wales offers the same standard of training for a fraction of London fees. The Course We offer an intensive one-year full time course, putting equal emphasis onsinging, dancing and acting to help make you the all-round performer that the industry requires. Professionals who are currently working within the industry teach all classes ensuring that you receive an up to date experience of the demands of the profession. AMT-Wales strive to make students employable within the industry after this one year. We believe this to be an extremely achievable goal with the correct standard of training, commitment from the individual and the right environment. The Dolman AMT-Wales is based at the Dolman Theatre, Newport. H.R.H The Princess Margaret officially opened the theatre in 1967, and to this day it remains one of the busiest theatres in the country, withover 60,000 people estimated to attend performances each year 45 weeks of the year The Academy has full use of the theatre and its facilities that include a large dance studio, two large drama studios, a 95-seat studio theatre and the main 400- seatauditorium. The Theatre also has a coffee shop, which is always open to students.Studying in such an environment ensures that students have exposure to the everyday workings and challenges of a thriving theatre. Applications We accept twenty students each year to ensurea great deal of individual attention. Entrance to the Academy is by audition only, minimum entryage 18.
