The Art of Inclusion is a two day conference asking the question ‘Can the arts impact on social regeneration?’ and which explores the role that the arts have in building stronger communities and transforming the lives of children. The conference is aimed at: artists/arts workers seeking to develop partnerships in social inclusion; strategic decision makers/those working on the ground with communities; volunteers working with young people/working to improve their communities; and those working in non-arts agencies/organisations who are responsible for regeneration and the development of communities, especially those working with young people at risk of social exclusion. The aim of the conference is to provide opportunities for networking with artists and organisations who are already pursuing creative approaches to social inclusion. The conference will include presentations and showcases from projects working in social regeneration as well as speakers such as: Grace Carley - Head of Arts Funding and Organisation, Department for Culture, Media and Sport; Kate Hainsworth - Director of Policy and Strategy, Yorkshire Culture; John Tebbet - UK Director for Children's Services, Barnardo's; and Andy Carver - Regional Director, Arts Council England, Yorkshire. The conference takes place 30th & 31st March 2004 at University of Leeds, Bretton Hall College, Wakefield. Costs for the two days are (incl. VAT): statutory organisations - £125; voluntary organisations - £75; individuals including artists, students and resident activists - £60. For further information: Contact Info: Tel: 01924 305794 |
