Neath based theatre company, Theatr na n’Og, have proved their ever-increasing popularity and success by selling their next tour out in record time! The company’s next production, Big Bad Wolf, will tour to infants schools in Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend from April to July this year. Over 75 schools have booked the production and the twelve-week tour has sold out in just two weeks! The well known stories of the Three Little Pigs, The Wolf and the Seven Kids and Little Red Riding Hood are weaved together to create an exciting new play by Theatr na n'Og. This musical play for years one and two, ages five to seven, features original songs and the first class performance schools have come to expect from their local professional theatre company. Big Bad Wolf will also tour to Special Needs schools across the three county boroughs thanks to a donation from the Barclays Community Investment programme. The publicity image for the production was drawn by Amelia Picton-Jones, Aged six, from Pontybrenin Primary School in Swansea. Amelia’s drawing was chosen from over 60 entries and the company presented Amelia with a Giant Crayola Art Set for winning the competition and to encourage her obvious talent for art. Theatr na n’Og are currently touring a production called Beyond Words to comprehensive schools in Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend. The project aims to assist Year 10 GCSE candidates, particularly those considered to be reluctant learners, by alternating performed extracts from GCSE English set texts with short workshop activities. Previously Theatre West Glamorgan until 2000, Theatr na n’Og have been producing high quality theatre for young people for over 20 years. |
